ROLE PURPOSE:
The Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Assistant will ensure the establishment of FSL systems, and ensure that humanitarian needs, by our own staff and/or as a result of how we do our work, are identified and addressed on an ongoing basis. S/he will report and respond to interventions as determined by his/her position and responsibilities identified in Save the Children International (SCI) strategy.
The role holder will be responsible of the provision of daily/weekly reports. Moreover, S/he will be responsible for non-food items (NFIs), food items (FIs), cash distribution, outreach activities, assessments, verification, and post distribution monitoring (PDM).
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3 - the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Programme Implementation
- Contribute to the registration and verification of beneficiaries by collecting appropriate data.
- Support in carrying out transparent beneficiary selection as per criteria in close coordination with other team members, local authorities, communities and humanitarian agencies working in the area.
- Conduct household interviews and focus group discussions to collect information, as needed
- Act as a liaison between communities and the Save the Children office; maintain good relationships with beneficiaries and local leaders/authorities; and report any identified issues to the FSL Officer.
- Act as the focal point for cash projects or Community Improvement activities in specific municipalities and Informal Settlements and ensure transparency and accountability from community and committee leaders: assist committees with the identification of community activities; conduct regular monitoring to ensure beneficiary participation and transparency
- Participate in the distribution of food parcels and non-food items (NFI’s) and developing the distribution plan.
- Coordinates with Save the Children’s other sectors (education, child protection, health/nutrition and shelter) to ensure integrated and efficient programming, including ensuring the cross-referral of beneficiaries
- Keep record of all required documents related to food security and livelihoods program, beneficiary selection, distribution and post distribution monitoring.
- Handle extensive databases and perform thorough cross-checking to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Engage with local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to assess their capacity and provide trainings.
- Contribute to weekly and monthly planning and submit regular reports to the FSL Officer.
Programme Monitoring
- Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of activities by collecting appropriate data from selected beneficiaries, using pre-made questionnaires.
- Collect market data from local shops and suppliers.
- Conduct awareness sessions on Save the Children’s Feedback Mechanism System, and encourage its use.
- Contribute to data entry, as needed.
General

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor degree in economic development, social sciences, business development or related field
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Minimum 1 year of experience in development programs, preferably working in food security & livelihoods, and with experience with distributions.
- Experience in field work, cash, livelihood, and development projects.
- Experience in conducting training and sensitization sessions for communities and beneficiaries.
- Experience in cash and voucher programming.
- Experience in distribution activities.
- Experience in Food Security and Livelihoods in emergencies.
- Advanced computer skills especially in excel.
- Strength in interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours, and capability to work in insecure environment.
- Familiarity with the Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and South region.
- Available to travel in country.
- Familiarity with refugee communities in country of operation.
