School Career Counsellor

Job Description:

School Career Counsellor required for an American school in Kuwait to help students in the areas of academic achievement and personal/social development. If students are not meeting course requirements or are having disciplinary problems, school counselors may need to intervene to remedy the situation.

Meeting with parents or guardians, teachers, and administrators to resolve any possible behavioural or academic problems. Attend professional development workshops and educational conferences in order to maintain and improve professional competence. Need experience helping students in preparing college applications.

Required Qualifications:

• BA or BSc in Education, Psychology, School-Career Counselling preferably from the US due to American curriculum and to help Secondary students choosing Universities to attend and application process

• Masters of Education in School Counselling from a recognized University, preferably from the US

• Excellent English skills required

• Must have excellent management skills and able to deal effectively with student behaviour issues

Required Experience:

• Minimum 2 years experience in School Counseling at Secondary grade levels

• Experience in helping Secondary students with University applications abroad

• Culturally sensitive, dependable, flexible and able to work in a continuously changing environment

Monthly Salary Range:

Competitive TAX FREE salary from KD 700 to 1175 depending on experience and qualifications

Housing:

Furnished accommodation of 1 or 2 bedroom flat is provided depending on family status

Utilities paid if staying in school accommodation

OR Housing Allowance of KD 125

Health Insurance Coverage:

Health Insurance provided for employee only

Annual Air Tickets:

Cash Value of Annual Return Air Fare to home country for employee only

Leave:

In addition to official holidays, paid leave is allocated as per school calendar/breaks. Minimum 30 work days per year

Dependant School Fees:

50% discount for up to 2 dependents attending same school as employee

Visa & Medical Check Fees:

Visa Fees will be paid for employees only if done in Kuwait. Employee is responsible for fees for dependents

End Of Service Benefit:

For each full year of service, school will pay 1 month Basic Salary per year worked according to Labour Law of the country

1 year contract - renewable

Paperwork Requirements:

Notarized and Attested academic degrees, teaching certificates, transcripts, marriage and dependent birth certificates. You will be advised of school requirements
