Job Description
Job Purpose
Responsible for managing all Engineering Projects, in addition to coordinating project plans with team members, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and budget as per client expectations, in line with set policies and procedures.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop strategic objectives and KPIs for the department.
- Review the operating results of the engineering department and ensure appropriate measures are taken to correct insufficient results.
- Develop the department’s budget and maintain approved budget to ensure all activities are within the assigned budget by setting the required targets and responsibilities.
- Develop and ensure the implementation of the department’s established policies and procedures and comply with other company policies.
- Develop the project plan and resource schedule according to client specifications and budgets.
- Monitor and supervise the project execution process on-site to ensure completion within specified timeframes in an organized and cost-effective manner.
- Monitor progress against the project plan and keep clients updated on the progress, taking quick corrective action where required.
- Examine drawings, assess material requirements, and submit material requisitions accurately to facilitate appropriate purchases.
- Assist with effective procurement of materials to ensure supply chain efficiency.
- Manage staffing on all projects to ensure the correct skill sets are in place.
- Provide project coordination to ensure health, safety, security, and quality standards are met.
- Attend pre-contract and project meetings to gain full knowledge of project needs.
- Coordinate with team members on all issues related to drawings, plans, schedules, and problems for quick resolution.
- Conduct quality checks on works carried out to ensure they meet client specifications.
- Ensure work is carried out as per client requirements and ensure all personnel on-site adhere to the project plan.
- Conduct inspections of all engineering works and address quality issues and defects.
- Liaise with departments regarding design, engineering, production, logistics, and installation scheduling.
- Ensure all work is constructed to the highest standards.
- Implement operations and safety management procedures on projects.
- Contact regulatory authorities to inspect and approve completed works for the issuance of occupancy certificates.
- Plan and organize resources in advance for assigned projects with daily labor schedules.
- Monitor progress and ensure completion of project deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the direct manager.
Continuous Improvement
- Provide input and recommend continuous improvement practices based on international best practices and business environment changes.
People Management
- Conduct annual employee performance appraisals.
- Identify training needs to ensure employees gain relevant knowledge and skills for a high-performance workforce.
Reports
- Review and present reports on budget activity, identifying potential problems and recommending corrective actions to management.
Job Requirements
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred).
Work Experience
- Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in a related field.
