Job Description
Job purpose:
As the first point of contact for employees, responsible for maintaining a positive demeanor in all of communicative efforts to do with point of service collections, registration, financial clearance, and admissions for inpatients and / or outpatients and the Emergency Medicine Unit.
Key Accountabilities:
GENERIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Systems and Processes: Follow all relevant policies, processes and procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner; contribute in cost-efficient usage of resources to reduce wastage and unnecessary expense.
- HSE and Risk Management: Adhere to all relevant HSE and Risk management procedures, instructions and controls.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Patient Access Services: Capture demographic and financial information required to complete patient registration/admission and record the information in the electronic record system; Verify insurance benefits; explain financial requirements to the patient or patient representative, and collect the outstanding patient portion prior to or at the point of service; Obtain signatures, verify accuracy of information, and scan documents into electronic patient record as applicable; Field phone calls regarding billing issues, appointment cancellations and all related kinds of concerns.
