Position Overview:
AIU is seeking a qualified Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, monitor, and maintain the university’s Oracle database systems. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal performance, data integrity, availability, and security of the databases. This role requires a strong foundation in Oracle database administration, performance tuning, and backup/recovery procedures, along with the ability to write and optimize SQL and PL/SQL scripts as part of core DBA functions.
Responsibilities:
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Oracle database systems to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
- Perform regular database tuning, health checks, and capacity planning.
- Implement and manage robust backup and recovery strategies using tools such as RMAN and Data Pump.
- Ensure database security by managing roles, privileges, auditing, and compliance with data protection policies.
- Create and maintain scripts in SQL and PL/SQL to automate administrative tasks and support data integrity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring data accuracy.
- Coordinate with infrastructure and application teams to support system upgrades, patching, and performance improvements.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Oracle DBA, with deep expertise in administration, tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture, backup/recovery mechanisms, and security best practices.
- Proficiency in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL for administrative tasks and data handling.
- Experience with Oracle tools such as RMAN, Data Pump, OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager), and related utilities.
- Familiarity with Oracle APEX, Forms, or Reports is a plus but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
