Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mathematics Teacher specializing in teaching students with dyscalculia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and mathematics, with the ability to create and implement individualized learning strategies that address the unique needs of students who struggle with mathematical concepts. The teacher will work closely with students, parents, and staff to foster a supportive learning environment, ensuring that students with dyscalculia can overcome their challenges and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1- Individualized Instruction:
- Develop and implement personalized learning plans tailored to the needs of students with dyscalculia.
- Use specialized teaching techniques and tools to help students grasp fundamental mathematical concepts.
- Break down complex math problems into simpler, manageable steps to support comprehension.
2- Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Assess students' mathematical abilities and identify specific areas of difficulty related to dyscalculia.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress regularly, adjusting instruction methods and strategies accordingly.
- Provide detailed reports on student progress and areas for further development.
3- Classroom Management:
- Create an inclusive, supportive classroom environment that fosters patience, encouragement, and positive reinforcement.
- Manage classroom activities to engage students in interactive and hands-on learning experiences.
4- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with special education teams, classroom teachers, and school psychologists to ensure a holistic approach to the student’s education.
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding student progress, challenges, and strategies to support learning at home.
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, providing insights into the student’s progress and needs.
5- Resource Development:
- Develop and utilize teaching aids, visual supports, and technology to enhance mathematical learning.
- Stay updated on the latest research and methodologies related to teaching students with dyscalculia and other learning disabilities.
6- Professional Development:
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional growth in the areas of special education, dyscalculia, and innovative teaching strategies.
- Attend workshops, training sessions, and seminars to improve teaching skills and stay current with best practices.
Skills
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Mathematics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or certification in teaching students with learning disabilities is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with students with learning disabilities, particularly dyscalculia.
