Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Logistics Manager to lead and manage the supply chain, logistics operations, procurement, and warehousing functions. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient, cost-effective operations while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
As a Logistics Manager, you will oversee the flow of goods and materials, ensuring on-time delivery, inventory optimization, and operational excellence. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
Logistics Management
- Plan, implement, and manage logistics operations, including transportation, distribution, and delivery.
- Coordinate with logistics partners, such as carriers and freight forwarders, to optimize transportation routes and ensure timely delivery.
- Analyze supply chain processes to identify cost-saving opportunities and enhance efficiency.
Purchasing/Procurement
- Develop and execute procurement strategies to ensure on-time availability of goods and materials.
- Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure favorable pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
- Monitor vendor performance and build strong supplier relationships.
Warehouse Management
- Oversee warehouse operations, including inventory control, stock management, and space optimization.
- Implement safety standards, quality checks, and compliance within the warehouse.
- Leverage warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory flow and improve accuracy.
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records, reduce wastage, and minimize stock-outs.
- Implement inventory control methods such as FIFO, LIFO, or JIT (Just-in-Time).
- Analyze demand trends to forecast needs and optimize stock levels.
Team Management
- Lead and supervise teams across logistics, procurement, and warehousing functions.
- Provide training, ensure adherence to company policies, and promote a culture of safety.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and evaluate team performance.
Cost Control and Budgeting
- Manage budgets for logistics, procurement, and warehousing operations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities across the supply chain to improve profitability.
- Optimize processes to ensure effective resource utilization.
Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure adherence to legal, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports on logistics performance, costs, risks, and opportunities.
Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field with a Master’s Degree (MBA) is an advantage.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in logistics, warehousing, procurement, or supply chain roles.
- Proven leadership experience overseeing teams and managing projects.
- Proficiency in supply chain software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, TMS, WMS).
- Advanced MS Excel skills and experience with reporting tools.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and ERP tools.
Certifications (Preferred):
- CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport) Certification
- APICS Certification (Association for Supply Chain Management)
- CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional)
- CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management)
