Job Description

The Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial health and operations of the company. This role involves managing budgets, analyzing financial data, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic insights to support decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills to drive financial efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Planning and Strategy

Objective: Align financial strategies with the company’s long-term goals.

  • Develop long-term financial strategies to support business growth and stability.
  • Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and rolling financial plans.
  • Perform scenario planning to evaluate the financial impact of different business strategies.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure financial goals align with operational objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate financial performance, recommending adjustments as necessary.


2. Cash Flow Management

Objective: Ensure sufficient liquidity for smooth business operations.

  • Develop detailed cash flow forecasts to predict funding needs.
  • Optimize working capital by managing receivables, payables, and inventory levels.
  • Prioritize payments to suppliers, creditors, and employees to maintain positive cash flow.
  • Manage short-term investments to maximize returns while ensuring liquidity.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to expedite collections and minimize bad debts.


3. Cost Control and Profitability Analysis

Objective: Minimize costs while maximizing profitability.

  • Conduct detailed cost analysis for raw materials, labor, and overheads.
  • Identify inefficiencies in production processes and propose cost-saving initiatives.
  • Evaluate product profitability and recommend pricing adjustments based on cost and market trends.
  • Benchmark company performance against industry standards to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with operations teams to implement lean manufacturing and waste reduction strategies.


4. Securing Funding and Credit Management

Objective: Secure financial resources to support business operations and growth.

  • Assess funding needs for operations, expansions, and capital projects.
  • Negotiate and secure credit facilities, loans, and other financing options from banks and financial institutions.
  • Prepare financial proposals, including detailed reports, forecasts, and repayment plans, for lenders.
  • Monitor compliance with loan covenants and ensure timely repayment of debts.
  • Explore alternative funding options such as government grants, leasing, or private equity.


5. Investment and Capital Management

Objective: Optimize the use of company resources to drive growth.

  • Evaluate potential investments, acquisitions, and major expenditures.
  • Conduct ROI, payback period, and feasibility analyses for proposed projects.
  • Recommend strategies for allocating capital across business units or projects.
  • Monitor the performance of existing investments and propose changes when needed.
  • Align capital management strategies with the company’s long-term financial objectives.


6. Risk Management and Compliance

Objective: Mitigate financial risks and ensure adherence to regulations.

  • Identify and assess financial risks, including credit, market, and operational risks.
  • Implement financial safeguards, such as insurance, hedging, or diversification strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial laws, and industry standards.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to prevent fraud and errors.
  • Conduct regular reviews of risk exposure and adjust strategies as needed.


7. Financial Reporting and Analysis

Objective: Provide accurate and actionable financial insights to support decision-making.

  • Prepare and present detailed financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries.
  • Analyze financial performance metrics and provide actionable recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop dashboards and KPIs to track financial health and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting.


8. Leadership and Team Development

Objective: Build and lead a high-performing finance team.

  • Manage, mentor, and develop accounting and finance staff to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Set clear goals and KPIs for the finance team, conducting regular evaluations and providing feedback.
  • Foster collaboration with other departments to align financial and operational objectives.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the finance team.
