Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to lead and coordinate mechanical, structural, and process design activities within our engineering department. This role requires expertise in pressure vessel design, heat exchanger engineering, and oil & gas processing systems. The Design Engineer will be responsible for translating technical requirements into accurate designs, performing calculations, and ensuring compliance with ASME, ANSI, and ISO 9000 standards.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and implement design engineering, detailing, and monitoring and controlling drafting activities.
- Providing accurate information for doing cost estimates for RFQ responses to estimation department.
- Establish and enforce best design practices to improve quality, productivity, and optimization.
- Control and manage engineering job files, ensuring proper documentation and release of designs.
- Communicate and update design changes with production and quality teams in line with ISO 9000 procedures.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance across departments within the organization.
- Capable of making technical discussion with client and auditors including ASME audits
- Familiar with ASME VIII Div. 1 and Dev. 2 requirements and phased ASME Audits as auditee for design and development in Div. 1, Div. 2, NB R and ASME 31.3 requirements.
- Ensure 100% accuracy of designs, drawings, and technical documents.
- Capable of doing timebound design and detailing
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9000 and ASME standards in all engineering activities.
- Conduct performance reviews, technical training, and professional development for engineering staff.
- Coordinate with clients and internal teams for design approvals and technical discussions.
- Travel as required for customer engagement and project execution.
Preferred Candidate
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Master’s degree (preferred).
- Experience:
- 5 – 10 years of experience in pressure vessel engineering design.
- Strong background in heat exchanger design is an added advantage.
- Proven expertise in ASME and API vessel, tanks and piping codes.
- Experience in an ISO 9000-certified environment is preferred.
