TITLE: AP ENGLISH TEACHER
REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL
Primary Purpose:
The teacher will provide high-quality and high-level instruction, challenge students to meet and surpass College Board standards, and implement instructional practices aligned with the school's mission.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implementchallenging, standards-alignedAP English curriculum that develops advanced reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Foster astructured and inclusive classroomwhere students feel supported in their academic growth.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, ensuringall students are prepared for AP success.
- Utilizedata-driven instructionto monitor student progress and refine teaching strategies.
- Providelanguage support and scaffoldingfor Spanish-speaking students to ensure their academic success.
- Buildstrong relationshipswith students and families, particularly within theSpanish-speaking community.
- Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to continuously improve curriculum and instructional practices.
- Participate inongoing professional developmentand contribute to a culture of educational excellence.
- Deliver high-quality instruction focused on developing students' writing skills, critical reading, and analytical thinking.
- Prepare monthly lesson plans by using school online resources and ensure that the lesson plan of his/her classroom follows the school curriculum
- Utilize various teaching methodologies, including discussions, collaborative projects, and writing workshops, to engage students in the learning process.
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and understanding of course material.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback on student writing, helping them to refine their skills and prepare for the AP exam.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Teaching certification and experience in a high school setting, specifically teaching AP English Language & Composition.
- Strong understanding of AP exam expectations and curriculum requirements.
- Previous AP experience required.
- Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills
