Basic Scope of Job
An anesthesia technician will work under the direct supervision of a qualified anesthesiologist. He/she will prepare and assist in the conduct of all anesthesia procedures, both in the operating room and outside the operating room in other locations in the hospital. He/ she will also prepare the work area and keep it clean after the procedure. He/she is responsible for the stocking and upkeep of equipment used by the anesthesiologist.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
Maintains all anesthesia-related equipment and supplies for all aesthetic-related procedures.
- Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies and equipment, and orders supplies as required.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance, such as lubrication and calibration.
- Report all equipment malfunctions to the proper personnel.
- Removes and cleans all reusable equipment and disposes of all used items according to infection control policy.
Consults the operating room schedule to determine equipment needs for particular procedures. Prepares the operating room for the particular procedure, including setting up and calibrating monitoring devices. This includes breathing systems, cardiac monitors, suction apparatus, and disposables.
- Assist the anesthesiologist during specific procedures like tracheal intubation, tracheal suction, transport to the operating room and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), blood warming procedures etc.,.
- Be available to respond in a careful and thoughtful manner to emergency requests for anesthesia equipment and supplies during stressful and urgent situations.
- Be able to operate computer-controlled apparatus.
- Help in positioning the patient for various surgical procedures.
- Prepare the equipment for regional anesthesia. Help in positioning and conduct of regional anesthesia. Have knowledge of the sterile techniques required.
- Assist the anesthesiologist in intravenous cannulation and setting up an intravenous infusion. Assist the anesthesiologist in the placement of invasive lines, e.g., arterial line, CVP line, etc.
- Assist in rapid blood transfusions and fluid infusions with blood/fluid warmers.
- Assist in pain relief procedures.
Education & Qualification
- Passed the higher secondary certificate after 12 years of school
- Diploma or Bachelor's in Anesthesia or related
Experience
- 2 years’ work experience after the above certification.
Skills
- Knowledge of anesthesia equipment and maintenance.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot computer-controlled devices.
- Familiarity with infection control and sterilization techniques.
- Proficient in setting up anesthesia monitoring devices.
- Skilled in assisting with anesthesia procedures and patient positioning.
- Knowledge of blood/fluid warmers and rapid transfusion techniques.
- Strong inventory management and supply coordination.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in emergencies.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of patient safety protocols.
Other Conditions / Requirements
- Age must not exceed 40 years.
- Must be an immediate joiner.
- Resident of Kuwait with a valid residency.
- Proficiency in English is required.
- All eligible candidates must have a practice license from the Ministry of Health.
