Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Surface Engineer with expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, modeling, and managing surface-related aspects of civil engineering projects. This role requires a strong understanding of BIM methodologies, surface modeling techniques, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Surface Modeling and Design: Create, analyze, and manage surface models using Civil 3D, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- BIM Implementation: Integrate BIM processes into surface engineering tasks, enhancing collaboration and data sharing across project teams.
- Topographic Analysis: Perform topographic analysis and develop digital terrain models (DTMs) to support project planning and design.
- Grading Design: Design and model grading plans, including cut-and-fill calculations, to optimize land development and infrastructure projects.
- Coordination with Stakeholders: Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure surface models align with overall project objectives and constraints.
- Quality Control: Conduct quality control checks on surface models to identify and rectify errors or inconsistencies.
- Data Management: Maintain organized and up-to-date surface data, including importing and exporting data to and from Civil 3D.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to project teams on surface modeling and BIM-related issues.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed documentation and reports on surface modeling activities, including progress updates and technical analyses.
- Training and Development: Stay current with industry trends and advancements in Civil 3D and BIM technologies, and provide training to team members as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in surface modeling and civil engineering design using Civil 3D.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Strong understanding of BIM methodologies and standards.
- Experience with digital terrain models (DTMs), topographic analysis, and grading design.
- Knowledge of GIS and other related software is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with project teams and stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve surface modeling challenges.
