What you will do:


Generic responsibilities:


  1. Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidelines and standards.
  2. Ensure compliance with Finance strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines, and standards.
  3. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
  4. Ensure proper filing of all supporting documents. 
  5. Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents.

Specific responsibilities 


  1. Carries out the daily bookkeeping by utilizing the NRC accounting system & ensures accountancy records are booked on a timely manner (including HK client bookings).
  2. Prepare bank accounts and cashbox reconciliations. 
  3. Ensure timely payment of staff salaries, contractors, suppliers, partners, and other expenditures
  4. Prepare and support the financial monthly closing of MENA office accounting books.  
  5. Ensure allocation of expenses in line with approved budgets and projected expenditures. 
  6. Provide finance verification of purchase and payment requests up to his/her authorization limit.
  7. Ensure effective cash flows, preparing forecast of expenditures and submitting monthly cash.
  8. Ensure monthly payment of taxes.
  9. Lead on preparation and assistance on Internal and/or External Audits and other financial documentation revision from any external body, if any
  10. Provide support related to financial training to the Implementing Partners (IP) and contribute to building their capacities to meet NRC requirements. 
  11. Other tasks as assigned 

Critical interfaces


  • Finance teams in country offices
  • Admin, HR and Logistics teams in regional office. 
  • Banks, Social Security and Tax organizations
  • Compliance and Grant department in regional office. 
  • NRC Head Office accounting department. 

What you will bring:


  • Minimum three years of experience in Finance and/or accounting related field, preferably within a humanitarian context.
  • Experience of working with ERP systems. 
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Good knowledge of financial reporting systems 
  • • Very good computer skills 
  • Excellent skills of English and Arabic. 

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience: 


  • experience from working as a Support Function Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context 
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts 
  • Knowledge of the financial systems in Jordan (Banks, etc.)  in the country of service would be an asset. 
  • Knowledge of working with Agresso (unit 4) ERP is an asset.

Additional Important Information:


  • Grade :                             5 Officer level , Junior Level 
  • Reports to :                      Regional Finance  Coordinator . 
  • Duty station:                    Amman, Jordan
  • Travel :                            10% to areas of operation within NRC in the Middle East and North Africa.
  • Type of contract:            Jordanian National Fixed-Term Contract 
  • Duration:                        Fixed term one year, renewable based on funding, performance, and need for the position
  • Salary:                            Based Upon NRC salary Scale for Jordanians’ national staff.
