Maqsam is the leading Arabic AI-powered Contact Center Solution in the MENA region designed to revolutionize customer experience. Leveraging groundbreaking advancements in AI technology, Maqsam has spearheaded accurate Arabic Call Transcription, advanced analytics, and insights, along with unique AI modeling utilizing its in-house designed LLM.

At Maqsam, our growth is powered by our people. We break from the traditional to create a vibrant, inclusive environment where ideas thrive and innovation is standard. Our people aren't just employees; they're the heart of our company. We’re not here to follow the old-school HR rulebook - we’re building a People Operations function that drives culture, engagement, and growth at startup speed. Our mission? To create an environment where every team member feels empowered, valued, and set up for success.

The Role

As the Head of People Ops at Maqsam, you play a key role in the future of the company, as you'll be involved with People and Culture, two ingredients we consider essential to our success. This position requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution across three key areas: Talent Acquisition, Workspace, and People Operations Management. You will mentor teams, streamline processes, and ensure that all People Ops activities are impactful and aligned with our rapid growth and company culture.

Your Top Responsibilities

Leadership and Culture:

  • Mentor and Support: Provide continuous leadership, mentoring, and support to the People Ops team, empowering them to excel in their roles.
  • Support People Managers: Help our people managers lead better, and equip them with the tools and insights they need to boost their teams' productivity and morale.
  • Strategic Advisor: Provide solutions for complex people matters, ensuring they are addressed with tact and aligned with our cultural principles.
  • Cultural Ambassador: Act as the ambassador of our culture, actively promoting and integrating our culture principles into all People Ops strategies and practices.

People Operations Management:

  • Operational Efficiency: Ensure all People Ops processes run smoothly, efficiently, and on time, including salary releases, onboarding, offboarding, performance reviews, and other key operational tasks.
  • Employee Records: Work with the team and people managers to maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, covering everything from official documents (IDs, contracts) to performance reviews and salary adjustments.
  • Policy Development: Develop, improve, update, and maintain company policies and philosophies to reflect our evolving culture and regulatory requirements.
  • Labor Law Compliance: Stay updated on employment laws and requirements in Jordan, KSA, Cairo, and the UAE to ensure all operations comply with regulations.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Lead salary review cycles and regularly benchmark compensation and benefits against market standards in the countries we hire at, to attract and retain top talent while aligning with our compensation philosophy.

Talent Acquisition:

  • Streamline Hiring: Refine our recruitment processes to make them smarter and faster. You'll lead efforts to cut down on time-to-hire and ensure we're bringing in the best talent efficiently.
  • Team Leadership: Support and elevate our Talent Acquisition team, enhancing their skills and maximizing their potential through hands-on coaching.
  • Tech-Savvy Recruiting: Equip the team with the latest tools and tech to keep our hiring process top-notch and data-driven.
  • Take the lead on hiring key executive-level positions to ensure we secure the right leadership to drive our company's success.
  • Adaptive Involvement: Be ready to actively engage in hands-on recruitment, especially during peak times or when the team is under significant pressure, to maintain momentum and efficiency.

Workspace

  • Culture-First Spaces: While you won't be directly managing day-to-day workspace activities, your role involves supporting and guiding the team responsible for workspace management. This includes overseeing office expansion, rentals, and the management of workspace stock, assets, IT tools and stock, and happiness activities. Ensure that our work environments support productivity and embody our culture.
  • Boost Engagement: Collaborate with the Workspace team to create and execute internal events, team-building activities, and retreats that bring our team closer together and promote a positive work culture.
What We Expect from You
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years in People Operations, preferably in a startup environment, with a mix of strategic leadership and hands-on execution.
  • Adaptability & Flexibility: The ability to adapt to the rapidly changing needs of a growing startup is crucial. You thrive in dynamic environments, comfortable navigating ambiguity, making decisions on the go, and stepping in where needed. We’re not a typical workplace, and this is not a traditional HR role. Most of the time, we don’t follow standard HR operations—we adapt, iterate, and find what works best for our team and culture.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team.
  • Operational Know-How: Solid experience in managing People Ops activities such as talent acquisition, employee engagement, workspace, compensations and benefits, and performance management..etc.
  • Technical Savvy: Well-versed in HR technologies, like ATS and HRIS to streamline operations and enhance data management, along with other collaboration tools to improve documentation, optimize workflows, and boost team productivity, such as Notion.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Arabic and English are essential for effective leadership and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Cultural Fit: Deeply aligned with our values, passionate about building and sustaining a strong company culture.
  • Labor-Law: Familiarity with labor compliance across multiple regions, such as KSA, Jordan, UAE, and Egypt, is a great plus.
What We Provide
  • Impact: Directly influence our company’s growth, culture, and team satisfaction.
  • Part of Something Big: Work with seasoned professionals and be proud of being part of the exciting world of SaaS business.
  • Fair Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits, including top-tier health insurance.
  • Growth & Learning: Opportunities for continuous learning, career development, and expanding your expertise in a fast-evolving industry.
  • Flexibility: A hybrid and adaptable work environment that values productivity over rigid rules.
  • Transparency: A culture built on open communication and trust.
  • Environment: Dynamic and fast-paced startup environment.

If you're excited to shape the future of People Ops in a fast-growing startup and thrive in a dynamic, impact-driven environment, we'd love to hear from you! Apply now and be part of Maqsam's journey.
