Background



UNDP’s Country Programme in Jordan aims to enhance the nation's inclusivity and resilience to achieve national priorities aligned with the 2030 Agenda. The Jordan Country Office Programme focuses on key Unit Priorities, including Governance and Peace, Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Livelihoods, Environment, Renewable Energy, Climate Change, Financing for Development, and SDG impact.
The Country Office focuses on significant development challenges, such as decentralized governance, violent extremism, institutional capacity gaps, data availability issues, water and energy scarcity, climate change, poverty, unemployment, financial literacy gaps, limited women participation, weak youth empowerment, and the impact of refugees within host communities.
Our communication products serve as powerful tools to showcase our SDG mandate and clearly demonstrate how each project seamlessly integrates into the broader mandate of our country program. These products act as a corporate framework, driving the organisation's external communications and advocacy efforts to expand its influence nationally.
Our communication objectives are focused on outcomes, and – where applicable – related to changing attitudes and/or behaviour.
Establish UNDP Jordan as thought leader providing thematic and innovative expertise and guidance to national and international partners. Build a sustainable private sector engagement model to meet established partnerships and programming targets. Utilise digital media to expand UNDP Jordan’s digital presence and create dialogue around innovative development solutions.
The Country Programme in Jordan requires a highly skilled and motivated Gaphic Designer to assist in developing effective visual communication products that reinforce UNDP’s SDG mandate.

Duties and Responsibilities



In line with UNDP’s commitment to develop innovative and engaging communication products that directly support strategic goals, the scope of work encompasses the following components:

Holistic Approach to Design



Candidates must demonstrate the ability to approach their work strategically, ensuring all outputs contribute to a consistent visual identity for UNDP. This includes: Developing and maintaining a unified design framework that aligns with UNDP’s branding and communication goals. Plan projects comprehensively and ensure all materials integrate seamlessly into a broader visual narrative to avoid fragmented or ad hoc designs Collaborating with the communications team to establish long-term design strategies that enhance the programme’s identity and reinforce its objectives. Ensure that all graphic elements and data visualizations maintain consistency in tone, style, and message, correspding to UNDP’s brand identity.

Graphic Design



Develop high-quality visual content, including banners, reports, social media assets, brochures, and presentations. Translate complex data and ideas into visually engaging infographics for reports, websites, and campaigns. Present quantitative and qualitative data in clear, concise, and visually attractive formats. Ensure all designs adhere to UNDP’s branding and style guidelines, as well as partners’ and donors’ guidelines. Templates for recurring progress reports or presentations. Custom infographics for flagship publications and annual reports. Data dashboards or interactive visualizations.

Collaboration



Work closely with the communications team to understand project requirements and deadlines. A set number of graphic design and visualization outputs (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly or per project).

Knowledge and capacity building and knowledge sharing



Identify, synthesize and document best practices and lessons learned that are generated from the project and implementing partners.

The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization



Institutional Arrangement



The Graphic Designer will report to the Communications Analyst. He/she will work very closely with the Team Leaders, Portfolio and Project Leads.

Required Skills and Experience



Education:
Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Design, Visual Communication, Information Design, or other relevant disciplines is required. OR A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the area mentioned above, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
Applicants with master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience. Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are required to have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience at the national or international level in experience in graphic designing and visual arts for multisectoral programming, including branding and strategic marketing
Required skills:
Proven experience in graphic design and data visualization (portfolio required). Proven experience in strong conceptual and creative thinking skills. Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating complex data through visuals.
Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section:
Experience in Graphic Design: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
Experience in Data Visualization: Tableau, Power BI, or Flourish. Experience in Presentation Design: Microsoft PowerPoint or Canva. Experience in Basic Animation (optional): Adobe After Effects or similar tools.*
