Job Description

Opportunity
The Caseworker will work closely with other caseworkers, interns , and attorneys in the screening and service provision of refugee beneficiaries.
The caseworker will report to the Casework Manager. The caseworker conducts in-person and phone interviews with refugee applicants and clients. In coordination with the legal team, the caseworker screens refugee applicants to ensure programmatic standards and criteria are met and adherence to IRAP policies and procedures.
The caseworker serves as the client’s point of contact in managing client cases and ensures appropriate client service provision per IRAP standards.
The caseworker will also be drafting resettlement referral requests for legal team review and submission.

Responsibilities


  • Conduct objective in-person and phone interviews with refugee applicants in Arabic, to obtain and input biographical and narrative information in a client service database and written report in English.
  • The primary point of contact for refugee applicants and clients provides accurate information to refugee applicants on behalf of the team advising or representing them.
  • Organize supporting evidence and support draft immigration application documents for staff attorney review and submission.
  • Under the supervision of the Casework Manager and staff attorneys, draft resettlement referrals that are sent to UNHCR and to receiving countries directly.
  • Provide translation and proofread translated refugee documents from Arabic to English.
  • Document, evaluate, and identify client needs and make appropriate social service referrals as necessary.
  • Contribute to improving service provision through participation in office, departmental, and organizational working groups, advisory meetings, and committees.
  • Support the review and drafting of documents, training, practices, policies, and procedures to improve case management.
  • Ensure quality and complete documentation of service provision in the client service database per internal guidelines.
  • Provide Know Your Rights, refugee resettlement, and IRAP training and presentations to refugee, NGO, and law student audiences.
  • Attend training, capacity-building meetings, and other events relevant to human rights and refugee issues, as requested by the Casework Manager.
  • Maintain and ensure confidentiality of all IRAP matters to ensure client privacy and program integrity.
  • Support legal research for new and evolving pathways.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications


Education:
University degree required, preferably in International Affairs, Social work, political science, Law.Experience
Prior work with vulnerable populations.Experience working with asylum seekers/refugees or overall experience in case management is an advantage.Minimum 3 years of related professional work experience. Values, Competencies, and Skills:
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a preference for experience working in diverse and international work environments. Openly share knowledge with colleagues.Sensitivity to client empowerment and to working with clients of all backgrounds, including LGBTI clients, survivors of trauma, and other vulnerable populations. Ability to maintain confidentiality and other applicable ethical rules at all times.Must be highly organized and motivated, able to multitask, manage a high-volume workload, and have excellent time management skills. Strong interest in humanitarian work.Proficiency with Microsoft, Google Suites, and Salesforce.Excellent oral and written English skills.Native Arabic speaker required.We encourage applications from individuals who have personal experience with asylum and displacement or who come from displaced families. Job-related Requirements


  • The position is based in Jordan.
  • This position may require travel to other IRAP  locations including but not limited to Berlin, Beirut, and the US.
  •  This position requires office availability consistent with IRAP Jordan’s hybrid work policy.
  • Authorization to work in Jordan is required.
