Main Objective of the Position

The Business Architect for Finance will act as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and Avertra’s program implementation teams, ensuring that all finance-related requirements are accurately captured, integrated, and delivered. With a strong foundation in finance (preferably FP&A or controlling), the Business Architect will focus on aligning financial processes across procurement, HR, operations, and asset management. This individual will also own and maintain the requirement traceability matrix, ensuring the successful integration of SAP S/4HANA modules and related systems.

Main Job Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Act as the primary liaison between the business stakeholders and Avertra’s project team for finance-related aspects of our programs.
  • Develop and document the end-state business architecture for finance, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure finance processes integrate seamlessly across SAP modules, including procurement, HR, asset management, and operations.
Requirement Management

  • Lead and actively participate in requirement-gathering sessions, identifying gaps and dependencies related to finance.
  • Own the Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM) for all finance-related functionality, ensuring traceability from requirements to delivery.
  • Collaborate with business users to prioritize requirements and validate that deliverables meet business needs.
Collaboration and Communication

  • Partner with SAP functional and technical teams to ensure that finance requirements are properly translated into RICEFW objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows).
  • Work closely with change management, IT, QA, and business stakeholders to manage cross-functional dependencies and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Act as the face of the finance stream, communicating progress, risks, and dependencies to leadership and stakeholders.
Quality Assurance and Risk Management

  • Collaborate with QA teams to define test scenarios and validate that the delivered solution meets requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and document risks and impacts related to finance integration with other modules.
  • Proactively mitigate risks by ensuring thorough testing, clear documentation, and stakeholder alignment.
Data and Process Alignment

  • Ensure alignment of financial data structures with the SAP S/4HANA data model, including chart of accounts, cost centers, and profit centers.
  • Oversee data migration activities for finance-related objects, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Contribute to process reengineering efforts to optimize financial workflows.

Requirements Needed Competencies 

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to conceptualize financial processes and workflows that align with organizational goals.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in analyzing complex financial data and translating it into actionable insights.
  • Project Management: Skilled in managing cross-functional projects, balancing scope, timeline, and resources.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with various stakeholders, including executive management, finance, and IT teams.
Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience
  • 7+ years of experience in finance roles (FP&A, controlling, or similar).
  • Prior experience with ERP implementations, preferably SAP S/4HANA.
  • Strong understanding of financial processes, including GL, AP/AR, cost center accounting, and budgeting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with technical, QA, and business teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in requirement management and documentation tools.
Preferences

  • Certification in SAP Finance (FI/CO) or related modules is a plus.
  • Experience with RICEFW development processes.
  • Familiarity with financial integration points across procurement, HR, and asset management.
