About the job
Licensed Aircraft Engineers are personnel responsible for the release of aircraft or component after maintenance within the extent of their authorization and issue an aircraft certificate of release to service accordingly. C/S must be able to determine when an aircraft is ready for release to service and when it should not be released to service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Release an aircraft to service after the satisfactory completion of maintenance
- Guide mechanics at their support during the performance of maintenance
- Supervise maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alteration (repair or modification) that is performed by mechanics under their supervision personally to the extent necessary to ensure that it is being done properly
- Use the methods, techniques, and practices prescribed in the current manufacturer's maintenance manual or Instructions for Continued Airworthiness prepared by its manufacturer, or other methods, techniques, and practices acceptable to the authority during the performance of maintenance
- Use the tools, equipment, and test apparatus necessary to assure completion of the work in accordance with accepted industry practices. If special equipment or test apparatus is recommended by the manufacturer involved, he must use that equipment or apparatus or its equivalent acceptable to the authority
- Complete all required maintenance within the available maintenance downtime
- Release the maintenance documentation upon satisfactory accomplishment of maintenance and keep such as part of maintenance records archive
- Record the details of the maintenance carried out or make a precise reference of such on the aircraft technical log system
