Our client is one of the largest mushroom growers in the world and is looking for a Mushroom Grower to join their team.

Opportunity

The Mushroom Grower is responsible for cultivating a variety of mushrooms in a controlled environment. This role involves overseeing the entire growth cycle of mushrooms from spawn to harvest, ensuring optimal conditions for growth, maintaining equipment and facilities, and adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and sterilize substrate for mushroom cultivation.
• Inoculate substrates with mushroom spawn and monitor incubation.
• Maintain optimal environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, light) for mushroom growth.
• Monitor and control pests and diseases.
• Harvest mushrooms at the appropriate time to ensure quality and yield.
• Clean and sanitize growing areas and equipment regularly.
• Keep detailed records of crop production, including yields and environmental conditions.
• Perform quality control checks and ensure mushrooms meet quality standards.
• Collaborate with the production manager and other team members to improve cultivation practices and productivity.

Candidate Requirements

• 5 years of experience in compost and growing operations and farm management may be accepted in lieu of a University Degree for a senior grower role.
• Must have experience and understanding of substrate preparation and mushroom growing
• Experience in mushroom cultivation or horticulture preferred.
• Knowledge of mushroom biology and growth cycles.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and carrying heavy materials.
• Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
• Basic understanding of pest and disease control in mushroom cultivation.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
