Job Summary:
The Financial Manager / Accountant is responsible for managing the financial health of an
artist’s career, ensuring accurate budgeting, income tracking, and tax compliance. This role
involves handling royalties, contract payments, expense management, and financial planning
to maximize the artist’s earnings and financial stability. The Financial Manager works closely
with the artist, managers, legal teams, and booking agents to oversee all financial transactions
and ensure transparency in financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Planning & Budgeting
• Develop financial strategies to manage the artist’s income, savings, and investments.
• Create annual budgets for tours, music production, marketing, and other expenses.
• Ensure financial decisions align with long-term career growth and sustainability.
2. Income & Expense Management
• Track all revenue streams, including concert earnings, royalties, merchandise sales, and
brand deals.
• Monitor daily expenses and ensure responsible financial management.
• Optimize cash flow to prevent overspending and manage financial risks.
3. Royalty & Revenue Tracking
• Ensure the artist receives accurate and timely royalty payments from record labels,
streaming platforms, and licensing deals.
• Track performance-based revenues, including tour earnings and sponsorship fees.
• Work with streaming platforms, publishers, and distributors to ensure correct revenue
allocation.
4. Tax & Compliance Management
• Ensure tax compliance by managing filings, deductions, and financial reporting.
• Advise on international tax laws for artists working globally.
• Work with legal teams to ensure financial agreements comply with industry regulations.
5. Contract & Payment Oversight
• Ensure all contracts have clear payment terms and that the artist is compensated fairly.
• Review sponsorship deals, licensing agreements, and concert contracts from a financial
perspective.
• Monitor contract fulfillment to ensure payments are made on time.
6. Investment & Wealth Management
• Advise the artist on long-term financial investments and retirement planning.
• Recommend opportunities to diversify income streams beyond music (e.g., real estate,
startups, stocks).
• Ensure the artist’s assets are protected and strategically managed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Strong understanding of entertainment finance, royalties, and artist income structures.
• Experience in financial planning, budgeting, and tax management.
• Ability to analyze contracts, royalties, and revenue reports.
• Knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and legal compliance.
• Expertise in QuickBooks, Excel, or financial management software.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills to work with multiple stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or a related field.
• Prior experience in music, film, or entertainment industry finance (preferred).
Work Environment & Schedule:
• Location: Office-based, hybrid, or remote with occasional travel for meetings and financial
audits.
• Work Hours: Flexible but may require availability during contract negotiations, audits, and
tax filing periods.
• Compensation: Base salary + performance-based bonuses or commission from financial
deals.
