Summary
The F-16 Flight Operations Manager oversees all aspects of F-16 flight operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of missions. This role is responsible for coordinating with maintenance teams, flight crews, and command leadership to manage mission planning, flight scheduling, and resource allocation. The manager ensures all operations adhere to military and safety regulations, optimizes mission readiness, and supports pilot training and mission success. A deep understanding of F-16 aircraft operations and a commitment to operational excellence are critical in this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and supervise F-16 flight operations, ensuring mission readiness and adherence to mission requirements. Develop and implement flight schedules, balancing operational needs with crew availability, aircraft maintenance schedules, and mission priorities. Collaborate with maintenance teams to coordinate aircraft availability, address operational limitations, and resolve technical issues to maximize fleet readiness. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and military guidelines related to flight safety, mission planning, and operational standards. Manage pre- and post-flight briefings with pilots and flight crews to review mission details, operational risks, and feedback from previous missions. Monitor and report on operational metrics, including mission success rates, readiness levels, and safety incidents, providing recommendations for improvement. Serve as a liaison between command leadership, pilots, and support teams to facilitate clear communication and alignment on operational objectives. Oversee training schedules and resource allocation to ensure pilots and crew members meet readiness requirements. Manage a team of operations personnel, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to maintain high standards in flight operations. Stay current on F-16 operational policies, emerging technologies, and best practices to enhance mission capabilities and efficiency. All other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a secret clearance, qualified candidates must have US Citizenship. Ability to pass physical screening requirements
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, aerospace engineering, or a related field; military training in flight operations may be considered equivalent. Minimum of 5 years of experience in flight operations management, with specific experience in F-16 or comparable fighter aircraft operations. In-depth knowledge of F-16 aircraft systems, flight protocols, and maintenance coordination. Demonstrated experience in mission planning, resource allocation, and regulatory compliance within a military or high-security aviation environment. Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on collaboration and operational efficiency. Excellent organizational and communication skills to coordinate with multiple departments and stakeholders. Familiarity with flight scheduling software and aviation maintenance tracking systems. Certification in aviation operations, safety, or a related field (e.g., FAA certification) is advantageous. Prior 7-level skill rating from the Air Force, Marine, or Navy, or equivalent civilian credentials such as FAA “Airframe and Powerplant” or Inspector Airframe license.
Work Conditions
Position is located OCONUS and in an austere environment; work is being performed on the flight line, limited hangar or aviation field environment.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and parts, tooling and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including up and down stairs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday. Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
