Summary The F-16 Egress Backshop Lead oversees the maintenance, inspection, and repair of egress systems on F-16 aircraft, focusing on ensuring the functionality and reliability of ejection seats, canopies, and related components critical to pilot safety. This position coordinating maintenance tasks and ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct and oversee thorough inspections of egress components to detect signs of wear, defects, or potential malfunctions. Utilize diagnostic tools and technical manuals to troubleshoot issues accurately. Direct and perform repairs, modifications, and replacements on egress systems, following technical guidelines and protocols. Oversee complex repairs and ensure all work aligns with mission-readiness requirements. Assign tasks to team members, manage workflows, and coordinate with maintenance and operations teams to ensure timely completion of egress system servicing. Prioritize tasks to minimize aircraft downtime. Ensure accurate, detailed records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs are kept according to standards. Maintain and enforce strict adherence to safety guidelines when working with egress components and hazardous materials. Ensure all maintenance work meets regulatory and organizational safety standards. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a secret clearance, qualified candidates must have US Citizenship. Ability to pass physical screening requirements
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or GED. Must have held a USAF 7 skill level or equivalent in Egress Backshop Maintenance. Experience in an F-16 environment is strongly preferred. Supervisory experience is preferred.
Work Conditions
Position is located OCONUS and in an austere environment; work is being performed on the flight line, limited hangar or aviation field environment.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and parts, tooling and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including up and down stairs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday. Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
