Title:
Construction Supervisor-Telecommunication
KBR is looking to fill the position of Construction Supervisor – Telecommunications to be based in Iraq on a 28/28 rotation at the Majnoon Oil Field.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Contributes to construction safety by ensuring compliance with HSE standards for all telecommunications scope and activities, including installation and inspection.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and preservation of telecommunication systems, including Fiber Optic, signal cabling, networks, PAGA, CCTV, ACS, PIDs, voice systems, data, and video networks.
- Oversee and manage telecommunications and or installation contractor and vendors.
- Review and verify vendor test results associated to Fiber optic and network testing.
- Reporting to discipline lead and ensure progress reports remain accurate.
- Supports the development of green & brownfield construction strategies and planning initiatives related to telecommunications infrastructure.
- Identifies and addresses challenges impacting telecom construction productivity, proposing improvements to the Construction Manager.
- Ensures optimal design, contracting strategy, and execution planning, integrating constructability input into HSE, cost, schedule, and quality considerations.
- Works along with the Construction Team to develop a construction strategy and execution plan, ensuring alignment with cost and schedule objectives.
- Effectively manages multiple projects, ensuring timely execution and quality delivery.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to understand their telecommunications requirements and develop solutions that meet their needs.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of telecommunication systems, including voice, data, and video networks.
Accountabilities/Expectations
- Coordinate with the Discipline lead to ensure alignment on scope, quality, cost, and schedule expectations for telecom-related construction activities.
- Ensure that project deliverables from Engineering and Contracts & Procurement align with the construction sequence and handover schedule.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of telecommunications systems, ensuring compliance with international and project-specific standards.
- Conduct constructability reviews to ensure risk mitigation, safe work practices, and cost-effective solutions in telecom system implementation.
- Ensure all telecom infrastructure is integrated efficiently into the broader construction plan with minimal operational disruption.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical issues, working with engineering teams and contractors to maintain progress.
- Maintain strict HSE compliance, ensuring confined space, lifting, and electrical safety procedures are adhered to in all telecom construction activities.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills to lead and motivate a team of technicians, set clear goals, and provide guidance and support.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders, explain technical concepts to non-technical personnel, and coordinate with vendors.
Education, Skills & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 10-12 years of experience in oil and gas projects focusing on telecommunications systems.
- Minimum 6-8 years of experience in construction supervision within EPC/EPCM projects.
- Strong understanding of fiber optics, structured cabling, radio communication, CCTV, SCADA, and PAGA systems.
- Experience in brownfield and greenfield projects, particularly in remote and challenging environments.
- Knowledge of international telecommunications standards and oil & gas HSE regulations.
Skills
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
- Proven capability in productivity measurement and resource-based planning (Level 4 Scheduling).
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, ensuring smooth interfaces between contractors, engineers, and the client.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements.
