Construction Supervisor – Electrical & Instrument
KBR is looking to fill the position of Construction Supervisor—E&I, based in Iraq, for a 28/28 rotation.
As a 132kV & Above Overhead Line (OHL) and Substation Construction Supervisor, you will oversee the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure, specifically focusing on 132kV OHL and substation projects. Your role will involve managing various aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, regulations, and specifications while meeting project timelines and budgetary constraints.

Overall view of the role:
- Contributes to Construction Safety by reducing site exposure through modularization, standardization, and maximizing off-plot construction.
- Collaborate with the Construction lead and manager, designers, and stakeholders to develop construction plans and designs for 132kV OHL and substation projects.

- Issue defect reports to contractors, oversee their rectification work on-site to ensure compliance with the Project’s specifications, and make informed decisions regarding accepting or rejecting completed tasks.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure construction materials and workmanship meet industry standards and project specifications.
- Contributes to developing brownfield construction strategies and planning initiatives for project opportunities pre-FID.
- Focusses on addressing and removing hurdles to efficient construction and actively monitors productivity on site, advising (acting on behalf of) the construction manager of ways to improve the productivity metrics.
- Identifies and monitors brownfield construction planning initiatives for approved projects post-FID.
- Will input into enhancing the design, contracting strategy, and execution planning, all in consideration of constructability through input into HSE, cost, schedule, and quality.
- Working with the Project Engineer and EPCM Construction Management Team, developing a construction strategy & execution plan, including cost & schedule, to effectively execute construction deliverables for the project.
- Ability to effectively work on more than one project at a time.
Accountabilities/Expectations:
- Coordinate with the Project Engineer and EPCM Construction Management Team to take a coordinated approach to the overall project scope, quality, cost, and schedule expectations.
- Ensure that the planning of the project deliverables from Engineering and Contracts & Procurement aligns with the construction sequence and the handover sequence.
- Ensures designs optimally use cold work, modularization, and off-plot construction to minimize HSSE exposure on site.
- Ensure that the final design has provided an appropriate construction risk assessment versus economic benefit by defining, timing, and facilitating the Constructability Review(s).
Education, Skills & Experience:
- BSc., University degree in any of the main Engineering branches., i.e. Instruments, Electrical
Experience and Skillset
- Minimum 10-12 years’ experience in Oil and Gas related project Design and Engineering
- Minimum 6-8 years’ experience in Oil and Gas Project Delivery as an Umbrella Contract Construction Lead function in a multidiscipline Workforce
- Experience in Productivity measurement resource-based planning (Level 4 Scheduling)
- Strong leadership and teambuilding skills Supervisory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field; advanced degree or professional certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in construction management, specifically in the field of electrical infrastructure, with a focus on 132kV OHL and substation projects.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations governing electrical construction projects.
