Construction Lead - E&I (MCPP)
Roles and Responsibilities
The Construction Lead oversees the management and organization of construction and field personnel, directing on-site efforts through their team. Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, their key responsibilities include:
Role Overview:
- Enhancing construction safety by minimizing on-site exposure through modularization, standardization, and maximizing off-site construction.
- Contributing to the development of brownfield construction strategies and planning initiatives for project opportunities pre-FID.
- Identifying and resolving construction challenges, actively monitoring on-site productivity, and advising the Construction Manager on potential efficiency improvements.
- Overseeing brownfield construction planning initiatives for post-FID projects.
- Providing input into design improvements, contracting strategies, and execution planning with a focus on constructability, ensuring alignment with HSE, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
- Serving as a key member of the Project Team, ensuring alignment and coordination across the organization to support successful construction execution.
- Acting as the Construction Interface from project inception to field execution.
- Collaborating with the Project Engineer and EPCM Construction Management Team to develop construction strategies and execution plans, including cost and schedule optimization.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Work Package Development: Preparing and overseeing detailed work packages for electrical and instrumentation (E&I) activities to align with project requirements.
- Team Coordination: Ensuring collaboration between engineering, procurement, and construction teams for timely execution of E&I tasks.
- Documentation Oversight: Reviewing and updating work package documentation as required.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensuring E&I construction aligns with project specifications, safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Commissioning Support: Contributing to the development of commissioning plans and procedures for E&I activities.
Accountabilities & Expectations
- Align construction efforts with the overall project scope, quality, cost, and schedule expectations in coordination with the Project Engineer and EPCM Construction Management Team.
- Ensure that engineering and procurement deliverables are planned in line with the construction sequence and handover requirements.
- Advocate for cold work, modularization, and off-plot construction strategies to minimize HSSE risks on site.
- Ensure the final design includes an appropriate construction risk assessment versus economic benefits, leading and facilitating Constructability Reviews.
- Implement a Work Face Planning process into project planning and execution in coordination with Project Engineer and EPCM Construction Management.
- Ensure construction activities are effectively integrated into the total project plan, supporting EPCM interfaces with operations and other disciplines.
Education, Skills & Experience
Qualifications:
- BSc. in Engineering (Instrumentation, Electrical, or a related discipline).
Experience & Skill Set:
- 15+ years of experience in Oil & Gas project design and engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in power generation for Oil & Gas projects, specifically as an E&I Construction Lead under an umbrella contract with a multidisciplinary workforce.
- Expertise in gas turbine installation (branded) and associated systems (Generation, AIS, GIS, SYA, BOP, and Power Networks).
- Proficiency in productivity measurement and resource-based planning (Level 4 Scheduling).
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with proven supervisory experience.
- Ability to foster collaboration and teamwork in a dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, ensuring effective prioritization and deadline management.
- High attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Adaptability to shifting project priorities and changing timelines.
