Amazon provides extensive training and development for a WHS Manager to learn to become exceptional safety leaders. The WHS Specialist will be responsible for partnering with a multi-site operations teams in AMXL Last Mile Stations and Sort Centres to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations. The WHS Specialist will be leading the WHS Function for all IN AMXL Last Mile and Middle Sites across India (Handling heavy and bulky shipments). By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, this individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for our Associates. The WHS Specialist must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. The WHS Specialist will also lead a team including Safety Coordinators (if available), Onsite first aid Associates, etc. This individual must create and execute leadership development plans for their team members. They must communicate safety team expectations and give regular feedback to their safety teams to ensure they perform to the standards expected of an Amazon safety professional. The role will start from 10 Apr 2025 and is currently based out of Doddakallasandra, Bangalore. This is not a corporate position. This is a full-time position located within one of our Amazon delivery stations, sort centers, fulfillment centers or other operations buildings within the Amazon Fulfillment Network. As a WHS Manager, you will have an opportunity to promote a positive safety culture while complying with Amazon safety standards on the operations floor. The WHS Manager coordinates and implements all aspects of Amazon’s Global Safety Program within the Amazon Fulfillment Network. Fulfillment is how we refer to completing or fulfilling a customer’s Amazon.com order and the acts of picking, packing, shipping and delivering their order to meet or exceed their expectations. Our Operations workflow can be broken three major lanes: first mile - where the product is housed and ready for your order; second mile - where your order is hauled to your area; and last mile - when the product is delivered to your door. The current role is presently for the last mile and second mile which may be subject to change. Please note that all lanes have slight building variations, but one thing is constant, our vision and dedication to the customer. Locations and Placement: · This position is not a corporate role. This position is currently located in an AMXL Last Mile Station in Doddakallasandra, Bangalore. The WHS Specialist will be leading the WHS Function for all IN AMXL Last Mile and Middle Sites across India (Handling heavy and bulky shipments). This position requires travel upto 50%. The candidate will also be eligible for internal transfer across India to any station including sort centers, delivery station, or other building within the Amazon Network. · Must be willing to relocate at time of hire (you will be eligible for internal transfers as part of your career with Amazon). The current role is based out of Doddakallasandra, Bangalore in the Amazon Extra Large Delivery Station. Day in the life: As the WHS Specialist, you will maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams. You will also conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment introductions for associates. In addition, the WHS leads recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomics, in Amazon’s Fulfillment Centers. Key Responsibilities: · Identify and inform management of compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities through conducting daily, weekly, and monthly audits · Facilitate incident investigation processes · Maintain required paperwork to comply with Amazon and local regulations · Enter Safety Incident Information in internal database in a timely manner · Participate in process improvement activities and manage actions to completion · Train and assist others (area managers, safety team members, etc.) to complete their safety tasks (audits, follow safety rules, etc.) · Perform specific safety training as required by the Safety Manager · May have additional oversight for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, or other safety related activities depending on the business unit and location Job Elements: Must be able to perform the following tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation: · Stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours· Walk in/and around the warehouse with great frequency; many facilities are over a quarter mile in length· Access all areas of building (Depending on the operations building, this may include ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways, and shipping docks safely and without limitation) · Regularly bend, lift, stretch and reach both below the waist and above the head · Willing and able to work any permanent shift that may include overnights and holidays. Note that there is a high chance that your shift may overlap into part of the weekend. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field required. • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity • Experience maintaining confidentiality in matter involving security and/or personnel issues in the workplace • Must have one of the following: • A minimum of 4 years in an environmental Health & Safety (EHS) related field OR; • A Bachelor’s degree in EHS-relevant background OR; • 6 months experience performing in a safety-related role within Amazon PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Master’s Degree, preferably in a safety related field • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills • Experience leading and managing a team ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses • Experience in emergency response and currently holds First Aid and CPR certificates
