Job Description

Role: Web Solution Architect (Sitecore Architect)

Location: Kharadi, Pune

Smith+Nephew is seeking a Web Solution Architect or Sitecore Architect to support the design, development, deployment, and governance of our global website and digital platforms. This role requires deep expertise in Sitecore architecture, DevOps, ASP.NET deployments, web technologies, system integration, data architecture, and website security. The ideal candidate will ensure seamless cross-platform experiences between Sitecore, Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, microsites, and other enterprise applications while maintaining website security, governance, and compliance. The incumbent will also be responsible for efficiently writing Jira development stories, documenting solution designs, and working with product owners to refine technical requirements. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, hands-on technical expertise, and experience in full-stack web development.


What will you be doing?


Sitecore Architecture & Development:


  • Design and implement scalable, high-performance Sitecore solutions aligned with Smith+Nephew’s digital strategy.
  • Optimize ASP.NET-based Sitecore deployments for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Develop and enforce standard methodologies for Sitecore customization, component development, and content workflows.
  • Work with Sitecore Experience Platform (XP) and Headless CMS approaches (JSS, Content Hub, SXA).

Web Technologies & Full-Stack Development:


  • Hands-on experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, React.js, Angular, and Vue.js.
  • Solid understanding of modern front-end frameworks, UI/UX standard processes, and responsive design principles.
  • Experience in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and API driven development.
  • Work with backend technologies, including .NET Core, C#, MVC and Web APIs, for web application development.
  • Optimize web performance with caching strategies, CDNs, and lazy loading techniques.
Database & Data Architecture:
  • Design and manage Sitecore databases using SQL Server, MongoDB, or NoSQL solutions.
  • Optimize database performance, indexing, stored procedures, and queries for scalability.
  • Work with data integration, ETL processes, and structured/unstructured data management.
  • Ensure data governance and compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, and enterprise security policies.

DevOps & Deployment:


  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Sitecore deployments using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Implement automated testing, build automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for streamlined deployments.
  • Optimize cloud-based hosting strategies and work with Azure/AWS teams to enhance Sitecore performance.
Integration & System Connectivity:
  • Architect and implement integrations between Sitecore, Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, and third-party APIs.
  • Use message queues, middleware, and API gateways to facilitate smooth data flows.
  • Work with OAuth, SAML, and Single Sign-On (SSO) technologies for authentication and security.

Website Security, Governance & Compliance:


  • Implement security procedures for access control and compliance standards across the global web ecosystem.
  • Conduct security audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments to ensure system integrity.
  • Work with DDoS protection, WAF implementation, SSL/TLS encryption, and domain governance.
Domain Name Management & Governance:
  • Manage domain name registrations, DNS configurations, and SSL certificates.
  • Define governance frameworks for content updates, versioning, and user role management.

Agile & Development Process Optimization:


  • Write clear Jira development stories with defined acceptance criteria and technical feasibility.
  • Document solution designs and technical specifications within Jira stories.
  • Collaborate with product owners and development teams to refine technical requirements and propose standard methodologies.

What will you need to be successful?


  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Should have a minimum of 8–10 years of solid web development experience with Sitecore and preferably with Microsoft tools.
  • Prior experience in Sitecore Web Development is required. Experience with Sitecore React JS, MS ASP.NET, HTML, Business Logic, JavaScript, and CSS for web development is a must.
  • Prior experience in website architecture is preferred. as well as Agile development experience is good to have.
  • Experience with headless CMS architectures and MACH (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless) principles!
  • Knowledge or understanding of digital marketing is good to have.
  • Sitecore MVP, or Advanced Developer Certification, is preferred.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and accessibility standards (e.g., GDPR, WCAG).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required to ensure the ability to communicate efficiently with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Good communication & organizational skills, ability to multi-task, good attention to details, excellent problem solving, and follow-up skills are required.
  • Ability to handle partner concerns in a timely and effective manner; experience in managing multiple urgent tasks.
  • Good customer service skills and problem resolution.
