About the role

The role of Web Developer is focused on the development and maintenance of Navitas College websites. These sites are powered by Content Management Systems (CMS), mainly WordPress. PHP is the main scripting language used. The role also requires the development of front-end web interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The role requires to provide technical support ensuring that all work undertaken complies with industry standards and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

Web Development

• CMS development and configuration, e.g., WordPress Theme and Plugin development
• HTML / CSS / JavaScript components and templates development
• Participate in new website projects
• Updating existing websites
• Ensure quality by adhering to development standards
• Test own work and other developers’ code as required
• Optimize website performance
• Create and update technical documentation

Communication

• Liaising with business stakeholders, web team, and marketing to accurately implement requirements
• Communicate changes and updates to Navitas staff as required
• Analyze and document processes and workflows as required

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

• Minimum 2 years full-time professional experience in a Web Development role
• PHP and WordPress development experience
• Good knowledge of front-end web development technologies, e.g., HTML 5, CSS 3, Less, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap
• Responsive design
• Version control (Git)
• Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills
• Highly developed organizational skills with a commitment to meeting deadlines
• Ability to find solutions independently, and through discussions with co-workers
• Self-starter who is comfortable working in a team environment
• Strong written and spoken English

Desirable

• Experience working in an Agile environment, using tools such as Jira.
• Experience working with Marketo EDM templates
