Job DescriptionPurpose of the role
To support the organisation, achieve its strategic objectives by the identification of business requirements and solutions that address business problems and opportunities.
Accountabilities
- Identification and analysis of business problems and client requirements that require change within the organisation.
- Development of business requirements that will address business problems and opportunities.
- Collaboration with stakeholders to ensure that proposed solutions meet their needs and expectations.
- Support the creation of business cases that justify investment in proposed solutions.
- Conduct feasibility studies to determine the viability of proposed solutions.
- Support the creation of reports on project progress to ensure proposed solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
- Creation of operational design and process design to ensure that proposed solutions are delivered within the agreed scope.
- Support to change management activities, including development of a traceability matrix to ensure proposed solutions are successfully implemented and embedded in the organisation.

Embark your journey as Vice President - Lead Solution Architect (Infrastructure) for Barclays Payments Merchant Services (BPMS) transaction cycle. The successful candidate will be responsible for governing various programs (including Business, Technology and Regulatory) that are spread across the transaction cycle. This role will also ensure various KRI’s and controls across Change, Tech Debt and Cyber Vulnerability management are maintained within compliance levels prescribed in various standards. This role will also work with various stakeholders to come up with the book of work for each year including the MTP cost finalization for delivering the work. The role is expected to interact with GTIS stakeholders, CIO’s, Delivery leads across various Businesses within BPMS to interlock deliverables and ensure they are scheduled and delivered on a pre-agreed timeline. The role will be primarily responsible for management reporting on all of the in-flight deliverables and be expected to walk through the same to senior stakeholders in various forums. The role is required to have good general communication and documentation skills to give clear and concise descriptions in flexible terminology such that concepts can be described to the Business, Technical and Management stakeholders with equal flexibility.
To be successful as Vice President - Lead Solution Architect (Infrastructure), you should have experience with:
- Strong understanding of various Technology standards and the relevant controls that each application team need to adhere to.
- Strong knowledge of Linux OS i.e. RHEL, Windows OS, VMWare, AD and Internal DNS (Windows), Server Hardware - blades and standalone etc. Strong knowledge around IT Security patterns and best practices - TLS/Token Usage, User Authentication and Authorisation, User privilege access, 2FA.
- Good understanding on Oracle-v19c, SAN’s and other storage mechanisms.
- Good understanding of different integration mechanisms (e.g. RESTful Web Services, ETL etc.) Good understanding on Networks - LB (App & Global DNS)/Firewalls/Switches(IP, Vlans & L3 Interfaces)/WAF & Web Proxies.
- Excellent Communication, Stakeholder Management Skills & persuasive skills across all layers of management.
Some other highly valued skills may include.
- Knowledge on Banking and in specific on Merchant Payments. Awareness of AWS and Azure Cloud Fundamentals.
- Appreciation of different Infrastructure patterns (e.g. Internet Facing Environment, Operational Data Stores, DMZ, etc.).
- Awareness of Release and Change Management process (ITIL) Awareness of ORAC and similar tools.
You will be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in this role such as Control Framework, risk and controls, program management, reporting and communication skills as well as job-specific technical skills.
