As UI/UX Designer at Caterpillar you will be responsible for collecting and translating user insights into delightful experiences. Ultimately, you will create both functional and visually appealing features that address our customers' needs. You will use your creativity and eye for design – along with your technical knowledge – to develop great experiences. You will be working with our UX team in India and collaborate regularly with the cross functional product and development team. Together you'll deliver UI mock-ups, prototypes, MVPs and final products. In this role, you'll have the privilege of being the voice of our customers. You will translate their needs into user-friendly designs and have a direct impact on the customer's user-experience.


Key Responsibilities:


  • User Research:
    • Conduct extensive user research through interviews, surveys, usability testing, and analytics to deeply understand user needs, pain points, and behaviours.
    • Develop user personas to represent different user groups and inform design decisions.
    • Prepare user journeys, task flows, user flows and competitive analysis against the industry trends
       
  • Design Execution and Documentation
    • Create sitemaps, user flows, and information architecture to define the structure and navigation of a product.
    • Develop high-fidelity visual designs, including layouts, typography, color schemes, and UI elements that align with brand guidelines.
    • Iterate on designs based on user feedback and testing results.
    • Document design philosophy and prepare detailed annotations in the mock-ups for developers to follow
       
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Collect requirements by collaborating with product team, tech team.
    • Present design ideas and concepts and articulate design rationale to stakeholders
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product management, engineering, marketing) to ensure design alignment and successful product launch
    • Mentor and guide junior UX designers, providing feedback and coaching to improve their skills
  • Advocacy and Strategy:
    • Continuously assess the design gaps in the current application and document gaps, improvement areas and present it to business leaders.
    • Represent the user perspective within the development process, advocating for user needs and usability best practices
    • Contribute to overall product strategy by identifying user experience opportunities and proposing design solutions

Required Skills:


  • Strong UX Design Fundamentals: 7 + years experience and deep understanding of user-centered design principles, usability testing methodologies, and information architecture
  • Tools and Technologies – Expertise in tools such as Figma, Axure, Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator etc.
  • Problem Solving skills: Identify and analyze a problem and take practical actions to develop creative, novel solutions.
  • Design Skills: Proficiency in design tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD to create wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs
  • Research Skills: Ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative user research methods
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication to effectively present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders
  • Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage design handoffs
  • Support and Mentorship: Experience mentoring and guiding junior designers
