Due to a period of maternity leave cover, we are looking for a UX Designer to join our Services Delivery team on a 6 month contract, starting in late April or early May 2025


This role will be offered as an independent contractor agreement!


The position will work closely with Project Managers and Clients to complete various designing tasks for our Solutions/Services. They may frequently work on both Moodle and non-Moodle projects, all to the end of delivering the highest level of services for our clients and teams, and to serve the mission of Moodle. This role will leverage your expertise in the ability to understand and support in articulating our design solutions with your managers, and navigate through the service delivery cycle with tenacity and finesse will be key to success. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving, and innovative environment.


What your new job can look like…


At Moodle, no two days will ever be the same, but most days in this role usually involve a mix of:


  • Co-designing features and enhancements with developers, designers, and leads, following user centred design principles.
  • Conducting research to understand user behaviour, needs, pain points, product improvements, and usability gaps in Moodle
  • Ensuring alignment with Moodle’s UX processes, principles, and frameworks.
  • Take on UX design efforts on projects from concept to delivery, ensuring designs meet both user needs and business objectives.
  • Improve the usability, accessibility, and pleasure provided in the interaction with Moodle.
  • Listen to, engage with, and invite inputs from the internal subject matter experts and other stakeholders.
  • Understand the behaviours, needs, and motivations of Moodle users through observation techniques, task analysis, and other feedback methodologies.
  • Collect, analyse, and summarise anonymous user data and trends from various qualitative & quantitative sources
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within the UX design projects, driving initiatives to enhance user experience.
  • Regularly communicate to discuss work, as well as to ensure expectations and progress are properly maintained.
