Role Description


Lending Operations in Bangalore is responsible in managing Lifecycle events on Syndicated Loan Deals, which provides Middle Office and Back Office support to Corporate and Investment banking divisions of the bank. The Associate (Manager) for Lending operations will be responsible for operational oversight of Deal Setup, Loan servicing transactions and Trading activities. This role requires a deep understanding of Bi-lateral and Syndication Loan life cycle, It entails reviewing documentation, funding, upsizing, rebooking, restructures, reconciliations, queries, reporting responsibilities, and other bespoke requirements for the business and their clients.  knowledge of Loan servicing systems, reconciliation, and break resolution.

Your Key Responsibilities


  • The Operations expert should be conversant with lending process along with having working knowledge in the Loans core system (Loan IQ). This primarily includes setup of new deals, facilities, performing amendments and extensions to existing deals, booking of collaterals.
  • Loan Agreements reviewed from an operational perspective to ensure Market standard terminology is used, and where it differs, business contacts are challenged. Additionally, flag operational effort at an early stage to manage business expectations for bookings
  • Manage book of work and prioritize based on funding
  • On occasion deals scheduled with very tight timelines of 24 hours. Individual must be able to make this successful by way of coordination of all 3rd party approvals, customer set up, Payment instructions built and review of multiple signed agreements/ memos.
  • Understanding of Banking Book P&L, perform investigations on historic transactions and query resolution
  • Providing Governance and oversight and generally being an escalation point for all Loan Ops locations advising on complex situations.
  • Offering assistance with all aspects of break management by sharing knowledge and best practice.
  • Monthly reconciliation process
  • Consistently evaluate and update documented procedures to ensure they are complete, accurate and current.  
  • Set up the Deal in the LS2 system and have a in depth knowledge of the credit agreement.
  • Closely monitor the team on a day-to-day basis to ensure all SLA’s (Quantity & Quality) are met and any exceptions are immediately escalated for resolution.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development within Lending Operations functional area.
  • Ensuring all controls and DB requirements are always adhered to and any risk items escalated immediately.
  • Comply with audit and compliance regulations and be the focal point for internal and external audits.
  • Be the SME; handle complex Process related queries and clarifications from the Team members.
  • Critical in providing input, development, and management of projects in the team on client transitions, system enhancements, end to end process reviews.
  • Manage process escalations from internal/external customers.
  • Maintain high levels of engagement with the Lenders, Middle Office, Finance, Business and Credit Risk Managers.
  • Ensure timely escalation to Senior management, as appropriate.
  • Comply with DB Policies, Guidelines and Controls.

Your skills and experience


  • Master’s / bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting with a minimum of 6-8 years relevant experience in New loan setup, loan servicing work experience in a Back office/Financial industry
  • Strong Loan IQ (LS2) skills
  • Strong understanding of deal origination and syndication process
  • Excellent verbal & written communication along with dynamic & confident approach.
  • Strong awareness of risk control.
  • Familiarity with loan documentation, credit agreements, admin forms, assignment agreements
  • Ability to effectively maintain, coordinate, prioritize /re-prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong problem solving and investigative skills to undertake analysis, resolve issues/problems related to the process
  • Strong risk & control mindset
  • Ability to implement tasks and projects with minimal supervision.
  • Team player who fosters team spirit in a global setting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications with advanced knowledge of excel a strong plus.
  • Should be open to work in US shifts
