Job Summary:
The Technical Manager provides technical direction for the development, design, and systems integration for SBU engagement from Definition phase through Release. He/She will lead simple to complex projects or phases of a project to ensure the completion of milestones against a committed timeline. Projects could be NPD, NTP, Q&R, Productivity, RTS type. This role calls for collaboration with cross-functional, multi-location teams and mentoring design engineers to ensure that the projects are accomplished to high quality, adhering to our standard processes, systems and project management principles, while remaining aligned with the strategy and goals of the organization.
PROJECT RELATED COMPETENCIES
- Provides technical direction for the development, design, and systems integration for SBU engagement from Definition phase through Release
- Applies significant knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our SBU partners
- Reviews work of Design Engineering team
- Easily recognizes Design deficiencies and implements effective solutions
- Provides direction in effective development of Dev Plans for Design Engineers
- Identifies, documents Project Risks and mitigation plans throughout the project from definition phase through Release
- Performs Design reviews and mentors Design Engineers
- Consistently delivers high-quality Design deliverables
- Supports People Manager in effective management of MDI boards
- Able to lead design and drawing reviews with cross functional groups (engineering SME's, manufacturing, service, and etc.) focused on critical areas of unit design for discussion. This will include helping Design/Sr Design Engineers create and communicate different concepts/options and providing direction and input on final design approach
- Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion
Leadership
- Identify and build new Design Engineering Competencies with Airside, Unitary, Chiller, Res at ETC-B
- Challenges others to develop as Tech Leads while serving as a role model
- Inspires coworkers to attain goals and pursue excellence.

- Provides Leadership for Idea generation and Invention disclosures
- Develops long lasting relationships with SBU partners
- Communicates effectively with SBU partners to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions
Qualifications:
- BE degree/ Master’s in Mechanical / Auto mobile/ Mechatronics engineering with good academics.
- 14 to 16 years hands on experience in component selection, system integration, concept development, design calculations, design engineering in the domain currently working.
- Understands complex Designer Tasks for HVAC subsystems, form and fit design requirements in consultation with SBU and end customers
- Complete Understanding of tools and technologies used in Design engineering
- Able to develop company standards for Part modelling, Drawing techniques, Tubing standards, Large assembly Management
- Understands the product architecture options and what works together. Can work on a variety of products within a given product group (i.e. Large commercial, Light Commercial, Airside or electrical discipline). Can answer questions about any aspect of the mechanical and electrical sides of the product. This individual is able to run and lead major NPD projects on any given product
