About India Engineering Center



India Engineering Center (IEC) is part of the global product development and engineering organization of Johnson Controls. Employing over 1400 engineers from multiple engineering discipline and specialization, we are spread across Pune, Mumbai and Gurgaon. We work in the product development space which ranges from core mechanical design, automation integration, development of embedded electronic components, software design and development, cloud application, machine learning and data science applications.



What you will do



In this role, you will be part of product development team to manage & delivernew product functionalities, modify existing product’s functionalities or improve product functionalities as required.



The technical Lead will provide general supervision and technical guidance to the Software development group in the design, development and test of PC software programs for Fire detection systems.



You will work within a multi-disciplined engineering team consisting of electronics engineers, mechanical engineers, firmware engineers, software engineers, programmers and scientists focusing on applied research and new technology innovations to provide new and improved products and solutions for our customers.



This role requires:



  • Individual contribution in engineering software products 



  • Works under minimal supervision; Determines approach to solutions; Participates in process improvement.




  • Self-assesses competency gaps; proposes plan to address gaps. Guides & mentors less experienced engineers.



  • Identifies issues/ concerns, proposes intended solution, gathers feedback.



  • Contributes to sprint/ project/ PI goals. 



  • Can communicate sprint/ project/ PI goals. Knows a set of features or products.



  • Owns a feature or product design Presents designs and results of investigations to departmental teams. 



  • Defines specifications for features or products. 



  • Represents project team within Engineering – can speak for the team technically. 



  • Excellent written & verbal skills.



  • Promotes environment of trust, shares knowledge, reliably completes quality work on time Regularly questions current technology. 



  • Proposes innovations within feature set, product family, or processes.



How you will do it



  • Own technical implementation forwindows-based applications.



  • Closely work with Product owners and product management for requirement definition 



  • Participate in effort estimation, Analysis, coding & unit testing.



  • Prepare software design specifications, test plans & feasibility study.



  • Organize & drive product development meetings, design reviews and code reviews.



  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze, design, and develop new features




  • Follow S/W Development life cycle process & agile development process.



  • Prepare the documentation as per QMS guidelines & Participate in Quality Management System reviews



  • Define guidelines for implementation of clean, well-structured code with proper abstraction and reusability



  • Comply with and makes recommendations for changes to established development guidelines & standards.



  • Identify,analyze and support team to resolves complex software inadequacies.



  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the development realm through interaction with other groups, communication with external experts and suppliers and independent research.



  • Review and provide feedback on product functional specifications.



  • Work within aSCRUM team. 



  • Technically supervises Software developers in the design, development and testing of software programs within the specific timeframesrequired



What we look for



  • Experience in Microsoft Tech Stack -C#, .NET technologies, WPF, MVVM ,WCF , SQL server, Entity Framework



  • Thorough knowledge of applicable software design and development practice; programming techniques and systems and language platforms.



  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication and multitasking skillsisa must.



  • Must have a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability.



  • Strong understanding of different software development life cycles (agile, iterative) and contemporary software quality assurance processes and automated tools.




  • Must have experience in working with distributed team members.



  • Must be extremely detail-oriented with respect to documentation and communication



  • Thorough knowledge of the software development area with key focus on PC Software Architecture and Usability.



  • Able to work independently or in a team environment and take ownership, work on project timelines



  • Self-motivated, takes initiative to resolve issues



  • Strong business acumen, coaching and mentoring skills



  • Strong proven leadership capabilities



Specialized Skills:



  • Familiaritywith Cloud technologies, Azure DevOps would be preferred.



  • Familiarity with unit testing frameworks 



  • Exposure to work with Service oriented architecture and integration between various systems



  • Experience to use Resharpertools 



  • Experience to work with Github & JIRA 



  • Prior experience to work with System programming stack (C, C++, MFC) would just be an added advantage.



  • Knowledge of Six Sigma Methodologies or equivalent



  • Knowledge of Fire Detection Systems or similar systems



Preferred




  • BE (ECE/EIE/ETC/CSE) Degree in a technical field is required



  • 6 to 12  years’ experience in Windows based  software design/development
