Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO), manufactures and sells material handling solutions for customers throughout the world. Toyota Material Handling Group (TMHG), the material handling equipment business unit of TICO, focuses on the development and sales for material handling solutions such as forklifts, energy storage, digital technologies, and automation.

Recently the decision was taken to establish a TICO Pune Development Center for the forklift business in Pune, India. This newly established organization will be supporting the TMHG engineering teams worldwide with development centers located in Europe, North America, and Japan.

Role description

As a Team Leader-Modeling & Drafting, you will play a key role in contributing to our global development initiatives.  You will be responsible for establishing and managing the ‘modeling and drafting’ team, who as a part of the mechanical engineering department, will work on delivering reliable and accurate drawing and documentation deliverables on projects in the respective TICO entities.

In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, cost, quality, and delivery of the TMHG products. This role for Team Leader-Modeling & Drafting is for this TICO Pune Development Center, which is a sister company of Vanderlande, both part of the parent organization i.e. TICO.

The Team Leader- Modeling & Drafting will report to the Group Leader Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities / Key Activities:

The Team Leader-Modeling & Drafting has the following responsibilities and key activities:

• Establish the ‘modeling and drafting’ team from scratch and take necessary steps to make this team productive as early as possible.

  
  

• Recruitment, training & day-to-day management of the team.

  
  

• Understand the core requirements from stakeholders and translate the requirements into high quality deliverables.

  
  

• Function as a technical expert, coordinate complex issues and support engineers in their team.

  
  

• Responsible for drawing quality by considering design intent, materials, quality control characteristics, dimensions, tolerances, product requirements, and clarity.

  
  

• Participate in recurring design reviews to uphold design quality and facilitate communication within the group.

  
  

• Follow technical company standards for modeling and drafting.

  
  

• Build and motivate team managing towards clear KPI’s.

  
  

• Responsible to coordinate workload management of the team.

  
  

• Cultivating robust communication channels with global teams, actively addressing their needs, and fostering enduring, trusting relationships.

  
  

Location & Travel:

The location and travel are:

• Based at Pune at combined location with VOICE (Engineering hub of Vanderlande with >1000 FTE)

  
  

• Full time job (100%)

  
  

• Travel: 5% travel might be expected on normal basis (to Toyota Material Handling North America and/or Toyota Material Handling Europe), during first year

  
  

Education & Experience

We search for a candidate with the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, 4-8 years of experience

  
  

• Experience in the forklift industry, automotive industry, or heavy equipment design.

  
  

• Ability to develop parametric 3D models, drawings, study files using relevant CAD software and manage files in PDM software.

  
  

• Quality oriented person realizing small errors can have big impact due to mass production.

  
  

• Adaptability and ease in an international & multicultural product-oriented environment.

  
  

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently in cross-functional teams.

  
  

• Detail-oriented with excellent analytical abilities.

  
  

Software Proficiency

Experienced with 3/D or 2/D modeling in one or more of the following systems:  Catia, Creo, Solid Edge, or equivalent; PDM Experience in Siemens Teamcenter (PDM) or Enovia SmarTeam preferred.
