Team Lead Machining - Manufacturing

Department 
You will be part of Manufacturing Operation-India, Global Supply Chain, Cement who supports Capital and Service for Materials, Warehouse & Logistics. By joining this team, you will have the chance to work in an international environment involving different cultures and different challenges. This department works closely with both our internal and external customers to ensure FLSmidth equipment’s on time delivery and customer satisfaction. You will be located in the Arakkonam plant.
 


Role
The TL-Machining role at Arakkonam involves ‘leading, supervising, and coordinating the activities of a machining team to ensure efficient production processes, high-quality output, and adherence to safety standards.’


Your Responsibilities


•    Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of machinists, operators, and technicians.
•    Address and resolve any issues that arise during the machining process, ensuring minimal disruptions to production.
•    Oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC and manual machining equipment.
•    Perform inspections and coordinate with the Quality Assurance team to maintain compliance with industry standards.
•    Support continuous improvement efforts aimed at enhancing quality and reducing waste.
•    Identify training needs and provide coaching and mentoring to improve team members' skills.
•    Coordinate with other departments, including Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance, to resolve technical issues.
•    Provide regular updates to the Production Manager on team performance, challenges, and improvements.
•    Identify areas for process improvements and work with the team to implement changes.
•    Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles and other best practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
 


Key Accountabilities
•    Manage daily team activities, set priorities, and ensure that deadlines are met.
•    Monitor production processes to ensure that they meet quality standards and specifications.
•    Ensure that the team follows all established production schedules and meets or exceeds performance metrics.
•    Ensure that all machined parts meet technical specifications and quality standards.
•    Ensure adherence to workplace safety standards and regulations.
 


What you bring
•    Proficient in operating CNC machines, manual machines (lathes, mills), and using precision measuring instruments.
•    Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
•    Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•    Familiarity with ERP systems and machining software is a plus.
•    CNC Programming, Machining Certifications, or other relevant industry certifications are desirable.


Education Qualification
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Production Engineering / Industrial Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.


Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a machining role, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory position.
