Job Description:


Tax Specialist plays a key role in supporting business in efforts to achieve and maintain Top quartile performance. This is accomplished through timely payment of tax and Filing of Return. With solid foundations in place, the team is focusing on its Tax Compliance, Operational efficiency, Low-Cost Automation and Transformational process transformation. The position offers a unique challenge of combination of finance, technology, and technical tax implementation & accounting knowledge.


Where You Fit In


For Tax Specialist role, we are looking for a candidate who has a particularly good knowledge on India Indirect tax compliance, processes, Controls and ERP.


 Specialist will work closely with the MIT Team Manager & HOIF to manage tax compliance. In addition, key activities include Payment of tax, Filing of Return, supporting transformational automation of MIT process in close coordination with feeder processes.


Job Purpose:


Specialist will work closely together with internal & external stakeholders of India and Finance Operations teams to drive and support Tax compliance for India. They will support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aligned with the changing external landscape around digitization.  
  
Main accountabilities of Specialist are.


  • Tax Payments and Filing of GST Return for India


  • Performing Reconciliations between Tax registers and Tax GL


  • Support external Audit and Assessments in Data Preparation


  • Support Statutory & Tax audit.


  • Posting Entries in GSAP & Blackline Reconciliations.


  • Manage GST Registrations and Amendments


  • Adherence to process steps as per Work Instruction


  • Collaborate with Feeder process for information required for Tax Compliance.


  • Contribute to Improvement Ideas related to operated scope.


What We Need from You?


This is a challenging role which will suit energetic, proactive individuals looking to build on their experience and gain a broader perspective of Shell Businesses and global operations. The successful individual will gain first-hand experience of delivering India Indirect Tax Compliance, automation projects and exposure to interactions with stakeholders on various levels of seniority, with numerous opportunities to expand in-depth future-oriented technical (e.g., digital) and leadership skills.


For this position we are looking for someone with a strong skills and knowledge of:


  • Degree in Finance or Accounting


  • Minimum of 3 years' business experience in India Indirect tax compliance


  • Strong preference for system knowledge of GSAP, SERP,


  • Tax (e.g., GST and Reporting) experience


  • Strong understanding of Shell processes, control framework, Group Reporting


  • Strong understanding of the current end-2-end standard process in Tax and/or connected processes


  • Strong, quick learning capability


  • Digitally savvy


  • Continuous improvement mindset


  • Excellent strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking


  • Exhibits excellent communication skills, both written and oral


  • Generate own improvement ideas and initiatives, develop plans, and deliver these


  • Exhibits strong teamwork skills
