Tax Assistant Manager

Job Description

The SUSE group maintains legal entities and taxable presences in 35 territories. The purpose of this role is to manage and provide support in relation to tax compliance matters in EMEA and APJ, working closely with the tax and broader finance teams, and with external tax advisors.  


This role reports to a Tax Manager within the Global Tax function and is based out of Bangalore with occasional visits to the office (once every week/2 weeks)


Focus Areas:


Tax compliance


  • Ensure all direct tax compliance requirements in assigned territories are met (returns, payments, supporting documentation, etc.), working closely with the wider tax and finance teams, as well as external tax advisors.
  • Ensure tax figures and disclosures in local financial statements / statutory accounts are complete and accurate
  • Provide support in relation to local tax authority audits and enquiries
  • Support with implementation of local tax planning opportunities (tax incentives etc.)
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and statutory auditors

Business support


  • Advise and support the finance team as required in relation to tax and transfer pricing matters
  • Advise and support the business in relation to adhoc advisory questions

Transfer pricing


  • Support with operational transfer pricing, including calculation of figures to be included in the local financial statements/ statutory accounts.
  • Support the implementation of transfer pricing compliance across the group, including the  communication of policies and procedures
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is in place, including legal agreements and local territory documentation

Other


  • Support the Treasury team in relation to the management of cash and inter-company balances
  • Build close relationship with the finance team and wider business
  • Support with quarterly and annual tax reporting and forecasting, as required

Preferred experience and qualifications


  • Accounting or Tax qualification
  • Minimum of 3 years’ PQE, managing corporate tax affairs either in an accounting firm or in-house
  • Experience of international tax and transfer pricing arrangements
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Problem-solver, with high level of enthusiasm and strong commitment to meet tight deadlines
  • Good communication skills and ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues/advisors in diverse locations
  • Team player
