The Systems Engineer is a member of RSM’s technical services group and is responsible for the operational support of information technology infrastructure. The engineer will work closely with IT management and other functional groups to deploy, administer and provide level three support for the company’s enterprise and field systems.  He/she must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to work, collaborate and coordinate between technical and non-technical people within the company. 


1.  Provide subject matter expertise (SME) troubleshooting support for Microsoft Active Directory, Vmware, ADFS, enterprise backup and other enterprise class applications.  Provides direct support of enterprise architecture including Cloud Computing Solutions, Single Sign-On, IIS servers, load balancing, backups and antivirus platforms.  Installs, configures, secures and maintains technical Dev, QA and Production Systems environments.   Configures and Integrates 3rd party applications and add-ons.  Works with end-users, Microsoft Support and other 3rd party vendors in resolution of support issues as-needed.


2.  Supports internal development, functional technology and project teams on a recurring basis. Monitors and optimizes server health functionality based on industry best practices. Implements upgrades, enhancements and fixes following established change management procedures.  Regular review of alerts, logs and performance. Participates in enterprise disaster recovery planning and practices.   Achieve system automation and integration through the use of Web Services and scripting technologies and tools.


3.  Maintains technical standards, procedures and techniques for the resolution of Enterprise IT system problems to ensure maximum application availability and performance.   Collaborates with other IT related professionals such as IT System Administrators, IT technical engineers, IT Developers, IT Architects and IT Portfolio personnel. 


4.  Participates in scheduled and unscheduled weekend/after-hours system maintenance and support.  Performs rotational on-call duty.

Education/Certifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, equivalent work history/experience or working towards achieving a degree

Technical/Soft Skills


  • Microsoft Windows 2008-2016 Server administration required
  • Troubleshooting of Windows Systems using event logs required
  • Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) and the basic operation of websites, application pools, IIS administration, ports, SSL certificates preferred
  • VMware Technology – Preferred
  • Veeam backup solution preferred
  • Dell EMC Avamar software preferred
  • Strong performance tuning experience preferred
  • Symantec Endpoint Protection experience preferred
  • Kanban knowledge preferred
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills required

Experience


  • Minimum 5 years of strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, network and directory services required
  • Experience in the following areas preferred:
    • Administering Directory Services for MS Windows 2008-2016 preferred
    • Managing DNS preferred
    • Managing virtualized environments preferred
    • Managing/deploying secure certificates (SSL) preferred
    • Familiarity with Cloud Solutions (Azure/O365/AWS) preferred
    • Citrix administration preferred
    • Ping Identity SSO/MFA preferred
    • Symantec Endpoint Protection preferred
    • Ability to read and author PowerShell AD scripts preferred
    • Administration of System Center Operations Manager preferred
    • Administration of System Center Configuration Manager preferred
    • Administering non-WinOS such as CentOS or Linux preferred
    • MS Certification preferred (MCSA or MCSE)

Leadership Skills


  • Experience in team collaboration required
