Supply Chain Services Overview:


Supply Chain Services team is focused on improving Caterpillar’s overall supply chain performance. This group is responsible for seamless execution of critical processes in the areas of Inventory Management, New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), Supply Chain Solutions, Inventory Control Services and Business Analytics. Supply Chain Services team delivers value by initiating and driving business-critical projects and solutions.


Caterpillar Returnship is a 24-week company paid, office-based program designed to enable a soft launch for experienced professionals on a career break. This initiative includes, networking sessions, coaching, trainings, and a project / work scope assignment.


Eligibility to apply – Career break of minimum 6 months.


What You Will Do:


  • Design and develop solutions to improve customer experience and mitigate business challenges.
  • Lead, motivate people and encourage teamwork to ensure successful completion of programs/ projects.
  • Collaborate with cross functional team to understand process challenges and lead discussion to identify improvement opportunities.

Responsible provide technical and functional guidance and lead data analytics team.


  • Bridge Technical and Business teams to arrive at potential technical solution for global facilities.
  • Work independently on defining and testing complex programs, processes, or systems.
  • Support in the functional design, development, maintenance/administration, prioritization and/or upgrades of major system modules and programs.
  • Become fully knowledgeable of Caterpillar application infrastructure components: the current operating environment, program design and specification development, programming logic, logic diagrams, testing, debugging and documentation.
  • Analyse and model user requirements, specify information flows, processes, procedures, data objects and dialogues between information systems and their users.

  • Compiles current research relevant to standard operating procedures.
  • Explains usage of standard operating procedures in business operations.
  • Describes main issues and considerations when using standard operating procedures.
  • Identifies key features and functions of standard operating procedures.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.


 Level Extensive Experience:


  • Reviews others' writing or presentations and provides feedback and coaching.
  • Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience.
  • Demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position.

  • Teaches others the calculations necessary to capture data and develop more complex reports.
  • Oversees multiple data-gathering and analysis initiatives.
  • Participates in developing criteria for selecting data gathering and reporting tools and techniques for various projects.
  • Reviews and verifies data and reports for accuracy.

Data Visualization: Knowledge of principles, techniques and processes of data visualization; ability to create high quality figures effectively for various business scenarios and storytelling.


 Level Extensive Experience:


  • Designs data visualization for complex scenarios and customizations to support data-driven decision making.
  • Improves the efficiency and effectiveness of data visualization processes.
  • Coaches others on the techniques and tools of data visualization.
  • Provides advice on data visualization solutions to better convey the essential information to target audience.
  • Ensures data visualization results are accurate, secure and accessible to necessary users.
  • Explores new adoption scenarios of data visualization within the business unit.

Inventory Management: Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage organization's materials, commodities, merchandises, or products.


 Level Extensive Experience:


  • Coordinates daily work of inventory management for different locations within a facility or a supply network.
  • Devises standard inventory management benchmarks to improve the processes.
  • Ensures that the inventory is at an appropriate level and meets both internal and external requirements.
  • Provides guidance on inventory management for a specific product group or location.
  • Applies systems and processes to identify and coordinate inventory requirements; resolves conflicts.
  • Reviews reports used for inventory management to find out related problems.
