An exciting opportunities for Sub-System Design Engineers have arisen to influence and shape the future of the Defence business in India. The roles involve working with business and external stakeholders to support the delivery of key programme milestones thus enabling the delivery of our Defence Combat strategy.


In this role, you will create innovative, world-class Fans, Compressors, Combustor, Turbines, Power Transmission, Structures or Externals designs that operate at the extremes of technology and deliver solutions that satisfy customer requirements by balancing product attributes. You will be working with multi-disciplinary teams and using design tools such as PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), CAD (NX) and DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis).  Your solutions need to be cost-effective, align to project milestones and take into account the full product lifecycle (such as manufacture, assembly, operation, repair, test and disposal).

What you will be doing:


  • Collaborating across Engineering Disciplines, including Verification, Manufacturing and Services.
  • Ensuring design solutions are tolerant of the environment in which they operate.
  • Use systems engineering, robust design, optimisation, integration and innovation tools and processes to achieve the solutions.
  • Defining the mechanical and functional system, sub-systems, and components to meet customer requirements. Responding to the issues identified during validation and supporting in-service operation of the existing system and sub-systems.
  • Having technical responsibility of the solutions throughout the technical approval process.

Who we are looking for:


  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering. Other qualifications, in combination with relevant experience, may also be considered.
  • Good understanding of Gas Turbine Engine design processes and methods.
  • Familiar with digital design tools for 3D parametric modelling and design, analysis, and automation of design processes.
  • Experience of Robust Design, Design for Manufacture (DfM), Systems Engineering philosophies and practical application would be advantageous.
  • Highly numerate with strong technical and analytical skills, problem-solving ability and capable of systems level thinking.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and will need to be able to contribute effectively in a team environment.
