Job Description Summary:


What you need to know about the role:
In this role, you will work with a team of engineers and build software for both PayPal internal users and developers. You will be responsible for designing and developing highly intuitive UI systems and tools to manage the product content.
Meet our team:
The World Ready Content engineering team is responsible for building the tools and services for managing the PayPal Product content and Email notifications content across the PayPal enterprise. This involves managing the lifecycle of the content right from creation to building the infrastructure need to independently deploy the content to the production systems for web applications across PayPal.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development of our tools and services which are not only scalable/extensible but also beautifully designed with intuitive user experience. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to deliver high-quality solutions to our users and drive innovation within the team. Here's how you'll make a difference:


  • Product Development:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy scalable web applications and REST services using ReactJS and NodeJS.


  • Technical Leadership:Lead the implementation of best practices and coding standards within the engineering team, driving excellence in software development.


  • Innovation:Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, proposing innovative solutions to enhance product functionality and user experience.


  • Problem Solving:Tackle complex technical challenges and architectural decisions with creativity and resourcefulness, finding efficient and elegant solutions.


  • Continuous Improvement:Actively participate in code reviews, design reviews, and contribute to the evolution of our development processes and methodologies.


Your day-to-day:


  • Develop and maintain robust, scalable code for our web applications and REST services, ensuring they meet our high standards for performance and reliability.


  • Design and implement innovative features that enhance the functionality and user experience of our content management tools and services.


  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, sharing your expertise to foster their growth and enhance the team’s technical capabilities.


  • Proactively identify and address technical debt, creating a roadmap for its resolution to maintain a clean and efficient codebase.


  • Operate with autonomy, taking ownership of projects from conception to deployment, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals.


  • Engage with stakeholders during planning and development phases to ensure technical requirements are clearly understood and met.


  • Champion best practices in software engineering, advocating for approaches that improve quality, scalability, and maintainability.


  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, localization and internationalization teams, to deliver solutions that exceed customer expectations.


  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development and deployment processes, embracing an Agile mindset for iterative progress.




What you need to bring:


  • A successful candidate will be a strong engineer who can work in a high-performing team, creatively balance high-quality delivery with customer focus to meet business needs, has excellent communication skills, and has a continuous record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment. 


  • 10+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering software related to platforms using Node.js, ReactJS & other UI Frameworks, RESTful services. Strong proficiency in JavaScript and its modern frameworks/libraries (like TypeScript), with a focus on writing clean, maintainable code.


  • Follows design principles of software engineering and systems and builds features to improve the platform and tools' availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency.


  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.


  • The candidate has hands-on experience designing and developing scalable web services, and platforms. 


  • Takes pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.


  • Work cross-functionally with other engineering teams, product & project management teams.


  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, with a commitment to iterative development, continuous integration, and delivery.


  • Nice to have skillsare experience working in TypeScript, databases (Relational/NoSQL), Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, Python.
