Meet Our Team: 
This role is within WBD’s Platform Engineering & Operations organization (PEO) responsible for providing the tools, services, and observability to our flagship streaming products. This role is specifically leading the Release and Delivery Engineering (RDE) organization’s technical direction. RDE’s scope includes creating an easy-to-use platform built for developers to easily bring applications to market while upholding a high bar for quality. We do this by packing source control, building systems, pipelines, and deployment solutions in a self-serve service.
We are a fast-growing, global engineering group crucial to WBD’s future. We need a development leader who is comfortable turning the needs of our engineering community into thoughtful design and architecture, serving as a senior resource for other developers as they build software components. The Staff Engineering role requires an individual to be a strong servant leader who cares about the developer experience of the customers. Additionally, we are looking for someone who has a passion for mentorship to help grow the engineers of the future.
 


Roles & Responsibilities: 


  • You play a leadership role in the domain of CI/CD tools integration/operations, and full automation of CI/testing. 


  • You are responsible for developing at scale strategies, guidelines and governance of cloud-hosted continuous integration systems with high reliability in a cost-effective manner


  • You collaborate with multiple engineering, QA and release management teams to help ensure end-to-end quality


  • You can troubleshoot a production issue by reviewing source code, logs, operational metrics, stack trace etc. to pinpoint a specific problem and then resolve it.


  • You are responsible for maintaining a platform-based mindset, the systems you design must be architecturally sound with a focus on reliability and ensure ease of use and adoption across the organization


  • You make trade-offs between immediate and long-term business needs.


  • You provide mentoring to senior engineers.


  • You describe your design, code, and architectural decisions to junior engineers, principal engineers, and leadership alike.  You embrace constructive feedback from these groups and adapt to align with organizational standards and objectives.


  • You offer enhancements to best practices, documents, design, and architecture improvements, and as feedback through code reviews to other engineers without continuous prompting or recurring encouragement. Other engineers appreciate your feedback.
     


What to Bring:


  • 8+ years, High proficiency and technical leadership within the domain of CI/CD tools integration/operations, and full automation of CI/testing. and a variety of Amazon/Microsoft/Google cloud resources.


  • You have led teams who designed high scale CI/CD systems for hundreds or thousands of engineers and launched clients or services over multiple release cycles.


  • You are passionate about the developer experience, and all your designs have self-service ease of use in mind.


  • You have acquired subject-matter expertise over one or more production software systems and demonstrated a pattern of shipping high quality feature changes in that or those system(s).


  • You solve business problems with simple and straightforward solutions, applying appropriate technologies and software engineering best practices.


  • Working experience in GitHub/GitLab, Jira/Microsoft Azure DevOps, Gradle, Rushstack, Bazel, Jenkins/TeamCity/CircleCI/Terraform.


  • Working experience in Java/Perl/Python/shell/typescript/PowerShell scripts


  • Knowledge of the UNIX/Linux operating system


  • Hands-on experience in installing, configuring, operating, and monitoring CI/CD pipeline tools


  • Experience in excerpting metrics and results from CI/CD security tools


  • Knowledge in installing, configuring, operating, and monitoring software security pipeline tools


  • Strong knowledge of popular cloud computing platforms
