Responsibilities:

• Ensures efficient processing of purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers
• Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity
• Ensures maximization of the procurement teams' changes, part parameters; quote table maintenance, supplier database information, error report analysis, and part number/supplier code information
• Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g. materials, components, equipment and services)
• Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value
• Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive
• May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing
• Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues
• Works with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability
• Likely to be a system expert and able to collaborate cross functionally on system issues relating to SAP and / or Ariba.
• Understands how to leverage master data, interpret signals from MRP, and effectively using different PO management vehicles (i.e. schedule agreement vs. discrete PO) to align the cadence between the supply base and the organization.
• Able to identify opportunities for system / process improvement and implements solutions.
• Understands SOX requirements, purchasing processes and able to provide compliance oversight and recommend improvements.
• Balances ILMN needs, interests, and rights with the supplier’s rights.
• Has a good breadth of understanding of the supply markets for key commodities purchased and will support selection of new suppliers.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's Degree (Masters Preferred)
• Domestic or global expertise of assigned commodities required
• Thorough knowledge of procurement, vendor relations, and inventory management
• Familiar with GMP’s, product specifications incoming inspection procedures
• Effective verbal and written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills, detail oriented. Strong influencing and negotiating skills
• Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, word processing, spreadsheets, project management, etc
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook required
• Must be very detail oriented
