About the Job-

Senior Software Test Engineer – Data  is responsible for designing and executing automated or manual tests on data pipelines, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely flow of data by identifying and resolving issues within the pipeline process, collaborating closely with data engineers to maintain data quality throughout the pipeline lifecycle, and leveraging automation tools to streamline testing procedures.

Once here you will -

• Create comprehensive test plans and strategies for data pipelines, considering various data sources, transformations, and target systems.
• Identify critical data quality metrics and develop test cases to validate them.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using appropriate testing frameworks (e.g., Pytest, Cucumber) to validate data pipeline functionality.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality checks.
• Perform data quality checks on extracted, transformed, and loaded data at each stage of the pipeline, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
• Analyze data discrepancies and identify root causes of data quality issues.
• Conduct performance tests to assess pipeline throughput, latency, and scalability under various load conditions and identify bottlenecks and recommend optimizations to improve pipeline performance.
• Log and track identified defects in the pipeline, providing detailed descriptions and reproducing steps to facilitate issue resolution.
• Collaborate with data engineers to prioritize and fix defects effectively.
• Generate comprehensive test reports summarizing test results, data quality issues, and performance metrics for stakeholders using JIRA and XRAY tools
• Lead and contribute in Agile Development Environment to deliver results in a time bound manner

What you will bring-

• Bachelor's/ Master's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or similar technical field
• Minimum 6+ years as a test engineer with a good understanding of SDLC
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
• Comfortable communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings to report on test progress, metrics, issues, and risks
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, with knowledge of other languages like Java or Scala being beneficial.
• Strong working knowledge of data warehouse concepts, ETL tools (e.g., SAP Business Objects or Informatica PowerCenter or IBM Data Stage) or Data Processing/Orchestration Engines such as Spark/Pyspark or Redwood/Control M.
• Proficient in Agile/Scrum practices to document Stories and Defects in JIRA and document Test Plans, Test Cases and Execution evidence in XRAY & generate Test Reports
• Expertise in automated testing frameworks like Pytest, Cucumber, and Selenium
• Ability to analyze large datasets, identify patterns, and interpret data quality issues.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and other team members.
• Setup/Generate test data bed to efficiently validate quality of Data Pipelines
• Strong business knowledge of financial systems is preferable.
