Job Description

Job Summary:Synechron is seeking an experienced Software QA Practice Leader with expertise in the retirement industry to establish and lead a world-class Quality Assurance (QA) practice. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in QA strategy, test automation, regulatory testing, and Agile/DevOps integration, with a deep understanding of retirement, pension, and financial services software solutions. This role requires a focus on regulatory compliance, transaction processing, and financial data integrity.


Key Responsibilities:


QA Strategy & Leadership:


  • Define and execute the QA strategy aligned with retirement industry compliance and security requirements (e.g., ERISA, DOL, SEC regulations).
  • Establish best practices, testing standards, and governance frameworks for high-quality software releases.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, DevOps, and business teams to drive a quality-first mindset.

Industry-Specific Quality Assurance & Compliance Testing:


  • Ensure QA processes meet regulatory compliance for retirement accounts (401(k), IRAs, annuities, pensions, and mutual funds).
  • Implement data validation strategies to ensure accuracy in financial transactions, reporting, and customer statements.
  • Oversee testing of integrations with third-party financial platforms (e.g., record-keeping systems, custodians, payroll providers).
  • Manage testing for security, fraud detection, and risk management in financial applications.

Test Automation & CI/CD Integration:


  • Build and implement test automation frameworks for UI, API, and batch processing systems.
  • Ensure seamless integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps).
  • Advocate for test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD) in Agile environments.

Performance, Security, and Data Testing:


  • Implement performance testing for high-volume financial transactions and batch jobs.
  • Conduct security testing to protect customer data and ensure compliance with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR.
  • Establish data integrity and reconciliation testing for financial reporting.

Leadership, Mentoring & Team Development:


  • Hire, mentor, and grow a team of QA engineers and SDETs.
  • Conduct training on test automation, compliance testing, and financial data validation.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in QA.

Vendor & Tool Selection:


  • Evaluate and recommend testing tools, frameworks, and platforms specific to financial services.
  • Manage relationships with third-party testing service providers for regulatory and performance testing.

Required Skills & Experience:


  • Industry Expertise:


    • 15+ years of experience in Software QA & Test Automation.
    • Strong understanding of retirement plans, pension systems, 401(k), IRAs, annuities, and mutual funds.
    • Experience with regulatory compliance testing (SEC, DOL, IRS, ERISA rules).
    • Familiarity with financial transaction processing, record-keeping systems, and payroll integrations.
  • Technical Expertise:


    • Experience with test automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium).
    • Strong knowledge of API testing (Postman, RestAssured).
    • Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, k6, Gatling).
    • Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps).
    • Knowledge of SQL and data integrity testing for financial applications.
  • Leadership & Strategy:


    • Experience leading QA teams in financial or retirement industries.
    • Proven ability to build and scale test automation solutions.
    • Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, and Shift-Left Testing.

Soft Skills:


  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with business, compliance, and engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):


  • ISTQB Certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with AI-driven test automation.
  • Knowledge of security testing tools.
