Sr Mgr SW Development

Job Description:

Reporting to Senior Vice President of Software, this role needs to work and operate cross-functionally with SW, PMO, PLM, Architecture , Product Line Management (PLM),  and Software Verification (SVT) teams to effectively and efficiently plan, decide and nail the road map asks and give a firm commitment to PLM. This would require to understand various optical system requirements and working with the various teams and understand their capacity, priority of the PLM. As a senior leader interfacing with various functional groups and PLM, this position is very critical and requires lot of decision making based on the data obtained and take a calculative decision based data and consultation with senior leaders. 

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

• Interfacing with PLM to understand the various asks and the timeline in which the asks have to be delivered.
• Discuss with Architecture and PLM to see if the asks can be executed with reasonable with high level of estimates obtained from Engineering.
• Working with various functional groups to make sure that the asks given by the PLM have been understood, architected and discussed in wider forum to get a clear consensus on the efforts and tentative timelines.

• Active participation in the Scrum of Scrums working with Product owners and Scrum Masters, and understanding the various Scrum teams their backlogs
• Cross-functional coordination with multiple stakeholders within different Engineering and enable to remove the impediments during the early stages before the actual execution so as to take effective and quick decision.

Mandatory  Skill set / Experience

• Minimum 12 years’ experience with good part of the experience as leading either SW development or System Test or Project Management Group and have managed, delivered high complex systems from reputed companies.
• Engineering degree or Master from CS, EC with excellent grades from reputed institutes.
• Excellent working knowledge in Agile model of Development preferable to have worked as a Product Owner / Scrum Master.
• Managed Scrum Teams directly or indirectly and thorough management of backlog management
• Thorough understanding of Quality Standards, quality initiatives.
• In depth knowledge and understanding of  the Optical / Networking / Telecom systems, having worked with such systems for at least 5 years on a complex systems hand-on.
• Good design analysis skills, in depth understanding of systems, estimation process, work experience in high-availability, software reuse, performance, testability, and extensibility.
• Deep understanding of optical fiber networking including transponders, Optical Line systems and Pluggable optics.
• Good understanding  in Embedded optical network systems, good knowledge of L1 layer protocols like OTN, Fiber Channel, Ethernet, SONET/SDH, OTN, L0 OADM/DWDM/CWDM/ROADM/FOADM, technologies
• Candidate must possess excellent inter-personal, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform under pressure.
• Self Driven and willing to take own initiatives and decision making

Desirable Skill Set / Experience

• Knowledge and experience in coherent pluggable optics, converged IP/Optical or coherent routing architectures, with understanding of OIF 400ZR/800ZR, OpenZR+, OpenROADM.
• Good Understanding with ROADM, EDFA, Raman Amplifiers and Coherent Transponders.
• Working experience in system control plane protocols like OSPF, RSTP, MPLS, LDP, and other L2/L3 protocols is a strong plus.

• Knowledge in TCP/IP networking, L2/L3 routing and switching.
• Good understanding in Python programming, C / C++ Development, Python Development and preferable to have some working experience.
