OSS tool stack manages multivendor switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, etc. supported by different set of network operators, The engineer of the team is responsible for managing all user, customer related queries, incidents, service requests, changes & problems & managing them within the agreed SLA. The Engineer should follow the project plan & task assigned to them & deliver it with no/minimal supervision. This enforces an engineer to be in contact with the users to understand their operational needs and maintain, modify, develop additional KPI. Simplify the requirement gathering & communication with users & speed up the process of change, incident, problem management, and maintain health of systems to ensure no downtime. This role demands an engineer to proactively find and discuss growth opportunities, experiences, trainings and skill enhancement with his/her management to follow the career path as well as to get empowered to make decisions to help drive business.
•Perform user & device management, new template/KPI creation on all in scope tools/applications.
•Manage availability and perform maintenance of all in scope tools/applications.
•Update weekly/monthly progress of the activities and create a holistic report with clear status for leadership review and way forward.
•Be a point of contact for all user/customer queries, incidents, service requests & their timely response/resolution adhering SLA & able manage communications to end users/customers for application changes, periodic maintenance.
•Document SOP, Knowledge sharing articles for efficient BAU, collaborate effectively with team members and help/support wherever needed to achieve common goals & uplift team’s skill portfolio.
•Keen to learn new technologies & ready to undertake new assignments & follow the assigned tasks with complete ownership of the activities with delivery focused approach with no/minimal supervision.
•Develop capabilities to assist team leader in his tasks & be groomed to be able to possess the readiness for the
next role.
Core competencies, knowledge and experience [max 5]:
•Overall 10+ years of experience of customisation/configuration, installation of OSS tools like Weathermaps, Cacti for performance, fault & configuration management with telecom domain knowledge.
•Hands on experience on Unix/Linux systems, multiple coding and scripting languages including (PHP, Python, Perl, Shell, RRDTool)
•Basic understanding of IP network especially autonomous system
Basics Understanding of infrastructure & network virtualisation fundamentals, network filesystem, RAID & Kernel
•Flexibility and openness to work on multiple assignments & 24*7 rotating shifts.
Good communication skills
Must have technical/professional qualifications:
•Professional level of certification in the OSS domain is preferred.
•Preferred to have ITIL certification.
