Job Description

Role: Senior IT Program Manager - Business Engagement

Location: Kharadi, Pune

The Senior IT Program Manager will lead the Unified Data Platform - UDP (data lake) implementation at Smith+Nephew, overseeing 8 project workstreams, ensuring on-time delivery, and reporting to executives. This role requires managing project scope, timelines, risks, and communication using Agile/SCRUM methodologies and tools like JIRA and PowerBI. The data lake will centralize Smith+Nephew’s enterprise data, enabling scalability, advanced analytics, improved & effective data governance, and compliance with data retention policies.


What will you be doing?


  • Consult with business sponsors, business process owners, and service delivery teams to identify, capture and prioritize UDP intake and requirements
  • Identify critical program & project achievements via collaboration with project managers and align Program Increments and Sprints to high-level delivery timelines
  • Drive the development and implementation of the plan of work/activities by working collaboratively with domain experts, including external vendors/partners. Apply Agile/Scrum methods for rapid value delivery.
  • Establish and lead routine program governance process and deliver progress tracking & reporting
  • Implement tracking & reporting showing program impacts on the relevant business Key Performance Indicators
  • Assess the impact of the change on the business with project sponsors and impacted business leaders and shape directly or influence an approach that is aligned with company purpose and cultural pillars
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to complete change management activities essential for ensuring successful business adoption and sustainability
  • Collaborate with project leaders to ensure tasks, activities, and actions progress according to commitments
  • Lead program report outs to senior business sponsors
  • Liaise with corporate communications for broader program report-outs to collaborators, company-wide communications, and other IT teams.
  • Collaborate with program team members to identify risks and issues for resolution.
  • Coordinate the development of program-specific communications and progress updates for impacted teams
  • Establish a change control process for the program to manage change requests to project scopes by securing approvals from the program sponsors for scope modifications

What will you need to be successful?


  • Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: PMP certification or equivalent project management certification is a plus
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex data and analytics projects across geographically dispersed teams
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in data analytics and data governance, with emphasis on project management.
  • Solid understanding of data analytics concepts, data models, data architecture, data privacy, and standard processes globally.
  • Should have experience with Power BI, Jira, and other D&A tools.
  • Keen understanding of IT internal controls and ability to comprehend and respond to internal and external auditors.
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends.
  • Excellent leadership and customer management skills with the ability to influence key decision-makers in a global context.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with agile project management methodologies, with experience in adapting these methodologies to accommodate the needs of global project teams.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed-upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities while effectively managing and coordinating activities across different regions.
  • Strong track record of building and maintaining solid relationships with internal and external customers and vendors and outstanding follow-up skills to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with functional groups and different levels of employees throughout the organization, including senior leadership, to achieve results.
  • Knowledge of common regulatory requirements in the financial and medical device manufacturing industry, including GDPR, SOX & GxP.
  • A critical thinker is required, as is a good understanding of good documentation practices.
