A Day in the LifeWe are looking for a highly motivated and energetic individual to join our Global IT Connected Care team. We drive software application design, development, deployment, and support for internal stakeholders and external users. As Senior IT Developer on the Connected Care team, you will lead application design and guide and participate in the development and maintenance of applications on multiple platforms. You will follow the Agile methodology to develop great applications, facilitate support, and improve development team processes. You will partner with colleagues and other stakeholders including developers, testers, analysts, users, and management to ensure all aspects of software projects are successful.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

• Responsible for evaluating and designing, developing or modifying programs for internal functional areas including finance, human resources, and marketing.
• Analyze existing programs and/or formulate logic for new systems.
• Develop system design documentation (including GUI design, if required), perform coding, and test/debug programs
• Create ad hoc or bolt-on programs for integrations or functional business teams as needed.
• Develop conversion and system implementation plans.
• Prepare and obtain approval of system and programming documentation.
• Recommend changes in development, maintenance, and system standards.
• Train users in system enhancements and modifications.
• Provide patch and software upgrades to existing systems as required.
• Correct program errors, prepare operating instructions, compile documentation for program support.
• Analyze system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
• Works closely with functional users to enhance and maintain programs
• Document detailed technical system specifications based on business system requirements
• Develop web applications and micro services using the following technologies: TypeScript, Node.js, React, Docker, AWS and PostgreSQL.
• Architect, design, develop and modify production and proof-of-concept web applications and micro-services.
• Provide advanced knowledge of development tools and execute with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Provide patches, fixes, and upgrades to existing systems.
• Follow software development lifecycle principles and specific processes used by team.
• Work independently to explore and master new technologies and development tools.
• Work closely with QA (Quality Assurance) to ensure that our applications are as bug free as possible.
• Execute with strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
• Support and plan process improvements for the team.
• Contribute to the translation of functional business requirements to technical solutions and articulate these solutions to high-level audiences.
• Prepare and obtain approval of system and programming documentation.
• Recommend changes in development, maintenance, and system standards.
• Support the design of Graphical User Interface (GUI) to meet the specific needs of users.
• Work closely with functional users to enhance and maintain software.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint retrospective and backlog refinement.

Qualification:

• 8+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 6+ years of experience with an advanced degree

NICE TO HAVE:

• Previous Medtronic experience
• Experience with networking stack(s)
• Experience with RESTful APIs and Microservices
• Experience integrating 3rd-party SDKs
• Experience connecting to Webservices / data transport (JSON, XML, etc.)
• Experience working on Enterprise web or cloud applications / solutions
• Experience developing web services and working with backend database systems
• Ability to see the bigger picture how APIs are a collection of services and how they interoperate
• Ability to quickly iterate and prototype
• Knowledge of mobile device limitations, networking, memory, cpu, runtime, etc
• Experience with FHIR Standard
• Experience with Application Security
• Experience with crash reporting and triaging issues
• Self-directed / self-motivated / self-starter; not easily blocked by barriers often presented by large corporations and complex projects
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with proven ability to effectively communicate to all management levels
• Experience with AWS (Elastic Container Service, CloudWatch, and CloudFormation)
• Experience with CI/CD
